This summer, we offered an internship program called Occupy for high school and college students. Occupy is a 6-week program that is geared toward helping students grow in their identity and intimacy with God by going deeper in the Word of God, prayer, and evangelism. The internship offers the opportunity for students to learn the backbones of ministry by working closely with Take the City staff in administration, social media, and videography.
While in the program, the students took a trip to Washington D.C. to pray for people on the streets, share the Gospel, and participate in an event called Together 2016. Here is a testimony from one of our students, Ashton, on the trip:
“On our trip, Mariel had us write encouraging notes to hand out to police officers. Throughout the day, I handed out all of my notes but one. At first, I saw a police officer and felt like the last note was for him. Though he was on the phone, I approached him with a big smile. I’m pretty sure he thought I was trying to sell him something because he wouldn’t receive my encouraging note. Moments later, however, I found a police officer who accepted and really appreciated my note. That day, I learned that sometimes you may feel like you’ve failed, but if you wait upon the Lord, He will open a way for you to bless just the right person.”
This is just one testimony of many more to come! If you would like to know more about Take the City, check us out on Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter!
