Why is Jesus called the Messiah or the Christ?

May 19, 2020

Have you ever wondered why Jesus from the Bible is called Jesus Christ? In this short bible study, we look at some of the reasons why Jesus is called the Christ or the messiah. In this session, we look at some of the reasons why Jesus is called the Christ or the Messiah. All through the accounts about Jesus in the gospels, we see him referred to as the Christ. In order to truly understand why this title is important, we must look at some prophecies from the Bible. What we discover when we look through the bible is that the people of Israel had long been waiting for a promised “Messiah” or “Christ”. When Jesus was called the Christ it meant that people were claiming that he was the one they had long been waiting for! “But these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Messiah…” John 20:30-31 The word Messiah comes from a Hebrew word that means “anointed one”. This Hebrew term was used to specifically point out those that God had appointed for a specific assignment or purpose. When someone was anointed, they were set apart to fulfill God’s plan. The people of Israel knew that there were many prophecies about this coming king who would be a “messiah” or anointed one. There were many prophecies that pointed to this person that they were long expecting and in the gospels we discover that Jesus fulfills all of their expectations. We see that Jesus came as the messiah they had long been waiting for. How can we know Jesus is the Messiah? Jesus is...

Carrying on a Gospel Conversation

May 14, 2020

Carrying on a conversation What we say to someone is far less significant to them than how we make that person feel. We want to direct and carry each conversation with the motivation of love and the desire to connect with them more. We don’t aim to sugar coat anything or water down the scriptures but desire ultimately to always share the truth in love. Ask questions – Ask about their own journey/story, There view of Jesus, “would you say your far away or close to God, Why?” Listen for follow up questions that allow them to share and stay engaged in the conversation.Listen well – It is easy to formulate an argument while the other person is talking, instead listen to them well and then respond.  Learn why they believe what they believe – If you can understand why they believe what they believe, it will reveal the core belief system they have it will help you connect them and help you see what part of your personal testimony or scriptures you might want to lead them too.Share your story – Often your personal testimony will open the door to introduce scripture.  This one of the most powerful things you can do while carrying on Gospel ConversationPoint them to scripture – It is good to have specific scriptures prepared to share, but many times a gospel conversation is organic because you’re asking questions and learning their story and its hard to prepare for something you don’t know is coming.  Therefore, be open to sharing a scripture you didn’t expect, maybe a verse will come out from memory that is...

Why is Jesus called the Son of David?

May 1, 2020

Have you ever wondered why in the Bible that Jesus is called the “son of David”? This is a simple bible study session where we will look at verses that help us find the answer. In Matthew 21 we are told the story of when Jesus was making his entry into the city of Jerusalem before he was crucified. When everyone saw him coming they all laid out palm branches and called him the “son of David.” In this video we help look at some other verses to help us understand why they gave him this name or title. Also, we look at Matthew 1 where the genealogy of Jesus is detailed. At the very beginning, it again uses the phrase “son of David” to identify who Jesus is. Have you ever wondered why He is called the Son of David in your own Bible study? In this video bible study, Andrew Chalmers talks about some more scriptures that will help us understand the answer. [Isa 9:6-7 ESV] 6 For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. 7 Of the increase of his government and of peace there will be no end, on the throne of David and over his kingdom, to establish it and to uphold it with justice and with righteousness from this time forth and forevermore. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will do this. Our team would love to hear from you if you have any...

We’re Open! Harvest Coffee

February 20, 2020

After years of dreaming and now months of planning, construction and preparation we have officially opened up Harvest Coffee Community. It’s been an amazing process getting here and the past two weeks have been so exciting seeing so many people come and gather here at our coffee shop. It was two weeks ago that we were holding our grand opening. So many people came out to support us. It was overwhelming and we are so grateful for everyone! We’re excited to report that in just our first two weeks we have far exceeded any expectations that we had as far as how well the coffee shop has been doing. We’ve had a huge response and so many people have been coming each day. One of the most exciting parts of launching the coffee shop is actually not the coffee but rather the prayer room. With the launch of the coffee shop, we are now able to leave our prayer room open six days a week from 7 am until 8:30 pm each night. We have people from so many various churches and backgrounds already coming in at random times each day to pray, read the bible and seek God. Also, each day at 12 pm we are now hosting a prayer meeting for one hour that is open to the public. We typically take time during that hour each day to worship and then pray for various topics. We’d love for you to stop by sometime! We hope to see you...

TAKE THE CITY outreaches have been so special to me. I love being able to see the hand of GOD move in peoples lives as they are healed and families restored. GOD cares about every detail of our lives and he reaches the places that only HE can only heal! Its been an honor to see all the teams go out and share the LOVE that GOD has instilled and filled the teams with, and let it pour out to all the community. Having physical needs met also assures all we encounter, the faithfulness of our Father. So many times I have cried seeing what GOD is doing… Being able to see people brought into the KINGDOM and freedom Spirit, Soul, Mind and Body. Is the greatest treasure in my life.
