Last Friday night the team was at a hotel, making a brief check for any activity. While a couple of volunteers were reaching one person, a guy on the team began speaking to a cab driver. Right then a young woman followed by a drunk older man came out of a hotel room and she cheerfully asked if she could get a ride to the bar down the street. The cab driver talked to her for a short time but then one of the Redeem female volunteers came to give her a rose and a hotline card. She gave the young lady a rose and abruptly the lady asked “why?” The Redeem volunteer was a little nervous, causing her to get straight to the point. She said, “we are just sharing the love of Jesus and reaching out to sex trafficked victims.” The woman’s face immediately turned sad and she told the team, “a few months ago I was able to get out of that life but tonight I have resorted back to those ways and just performed sexually for money.” The Redeem volunteer began ministering to her and the young lady started crying as she realized that this was no coincidence, it was a divine encounter that she just happened to come out at this time and Redeem was out there on this night. The redeem volunteer felt the lord tell her to give this lady her necklace that said “Beloved”. When she did the young woman’s crying turned to sobbing and she said that her favorite song is “Beloved!” That young lady encountered the love of Jesus and was set free! Please pray with us that she will stay out of that life and she will reach out to the team to get into a program or start in the restoration process.
