Discovering the Holy Spirit: The Power That Changes EverythingIn Session Seven of the Discovering the Joy series, I share one of the most important turning points of my life: discovering the person of the Holy Spirit. This session is built around Chapter Six of my book, Discovering the Joy of Representing Jesus in Everyday Life, and it focuses on how encountering the Holy Spirit changed not just what I believed—but how I lived. If you want the full journey, you can get the book here:Discovering the Joy on Amazon → https://a.co/d/f92HM8GWalking by the Spirit, Not the FleshGalatians 5 says:Walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh.Every human being knows what it feels like to want to do what’s right—and still do what’s wrong. That tension isn’t just about bad habits. It’s about two natures:• The old sin nature• The new Spirit-filled natureThe works of the flesh lead to destruction. The fruit of the Spirit leads to life.LoveJoyPeacePatienceKindnessGoodnessFaithfulnessGentlenessSelf-controlThese are not personality traits. They are evidence of a life connected to the Holy Spirit. And joy—the heartbeat of my book—is not something you force. Joy flows naturally from intimacy with the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit Is a PersonJesus said in John 16:When He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all truth. The Holy Spirit is not a force. He is not an energy. He is not a feeling. He is a person. He speaks. He guides. He reveals truth. He glorifies Jesus. And one of His main jobs is to lead us out of lies and into truth—because lies always steal joy, and truth always restores it.Born Again and Then Filled With PowerIn John... Discovering Freedom: Where the Spirit of the Lord Is, There Is Freedom If you’ve been walking with Jesus for a while, you’ve probably noticed something: following Christ isn’t just about believing the right things — it’s about becoming free.In this session of my teaching series through my book Discovering the Joy of Representing Jesus in Everyday Life, we’re stepping into Chapter 9: “Discovering Freedom.” This chapter was one I debated even including, because it touches on real stories of people being saved, healed, and delivered—the kind of stories that can feel “too far out there” for some, and totally normal for others. But I chose to include it because the Bible doesn’t shy away from the truth: Jesus sets people free. And if you’re a disciple of Jesus, freedom is not just something you read about—it’s something you’re invited to experience and carry into other people’s lives. If you want the full chapter and the stories behind this session, you can grab the book here: Discovering the Joy on Amazon → https://a.co/d/f92HM8GThe Foundation: Freedom Is a PersonI begin Chapter 9 with a scripture that has shaped so much of my journey:“Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.”(2 Corinthians 3:17)The Holy Spirit doesn’t just bring comfort. He brings liberty. He brings freedom.Freedom from what?freedom from the power of sinfreedom from the oppression of fearfreedom from anxietyfreedom from bondage and addictionfreedom from spiritual oppression and darknessfreedom in areas where we’ve been held down for yearsWhere the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom—not as a slogan, but as a reality.Jesus and Deliverance:... Discovering the Prophetic: How the Holy Spirit Uses Prophecy to Build Up, Encourage, and Strengthen f you’ve ever wondered whether God still speaks today—and whether He can use you to encourage someone with a timely word—this session is for you.In Session 8 of the Discovering the Joy series, I’m teaching directly from Chapter 7 of my book, Discovering the Joy of Representing Jesus in Everyday Life. That chapter is called “Discovering the Prophetic,” and it’s all about the gift of prophecy—what it is, what it’s for, and how everyday followers of Jesus can grow in it through the Holy Spirit. If you want to go deeper than this blog post, grab the book here (this chapter expands the full teaching and stories):https://a.co/d/f92HM8GWhat Is the Gift of Prophecy? The gift of prophecy is simpler than many people assume. At its core, prophecy is:Hearing what God is saying (or discerning what He is showing you)Sharing what you sense in a way that strengthens someone elseIn Scripture, prophets were sometimes called “seers” because they could discern what God wanted communicated. But prophecy isn’t limited to predicting the future. That’s where many people get confused.Foretelling vs Forth-tellingProphecy can include foretelling (God revealing something that’s coming), but prophecy is often forth-telling—declaring what God is highlighting right now:what someone carriesthe way God sees thema hidden encouragementa timely Scripturea strengthening word that brings clarity and courageProphecy is not fortune-telling. It’s Spirit-led encouragement that brings life. Why Prophesy? 1 Corinthians 14 Makes It ClearOne of the clearest passages on prophecy is 1 Corinthians 14—and it begins with an important order:Pursue loveEarnestly desire spiritual giftsEspecially that you may prophesyThat’s not a random... Buy the Book Now - Discovering the Joy Discovering Healing: How Jesus Still Heals Today If you’ve ever read the Gospels and felt the tension—“I believe what the Bible says, but I haven’t seen it”—you’re not alone. In this teaching (Session 9), I’m sharing from Chapter 8 of my book, Discovering the Joy of Representing Jesus in Everyday Life—a chapter called “Discovering Healing.” This isn’t meant to cover everything in the chapter. It’s meant to build faith from Scripture, share a real testimony, and challenge everyday followers of Jesus to step out with courage and pray for the sick.Because healing isn’t just a “Bible-times” idea. Healing is part of the kingdom of God breaking into real life—today. My Journey: When I Believed the Bible… But Didn’t Expect MiraclesFor a long time, I believed in the miracles I read in Scripture, but I didn’t fully believe I’d see miracles in real life. I had never witnessed healing in front of me, so I quietly assumed:“God did miracles back then… but not now.”Then something shifted.I entered a season I’d call a holy dissatisfaction—not frustration with God, but a hunger for truth. I kept seeing Jesus heal people again and again. I kept seeing the disciples heal people again and again. And I couldn’t shake the question:If God healed in the Bible… why wouldn’t He heal now?If God is unchanging… why would His power and compassion be “limited to history”?That search pulled me back into the Word with fresh eyes—and it became the beginning of a brand-new journey: discovering healing.A Testimony: The Day I Prayed (and Didn’t Expect Anything to Happen)During that season, my...
