Because You Give…One Young Man’s Faith Grew.

December 7, 2023

Because You Give...One Young Man's Faith Grew. Dear friends,   Jonathan attended our Harvest Conference this year and was completely blown away.   “I was coming into the conference after the whirlwind of the previous few days feeling pretty sad but Friday night was really eye-opening, and then Saturday was just life-changing. I loved being in that environment,” Jonathan exclaimed.   Since then, Jonathan has become a regular part of our community, partnering with the Harvest House of Prayer in leading a worship set once a week and serving during our monthly community Harvest Night of Worship. Inviting people to become part of what God is doing through Take the City on behalf of the community is what we do.   We’d like to offer you the opportunity to invest in more young men like Jonathan by partnering with Take the City in its ministries. Our goal for the end of the year is $30,000. Yes, I want to help! Changing Lives. Reviving...

Because You Give…Prayer Changed Everything

November 30, 2023

Because You Give...Prayer Changed Everything Dear friends,   Meet Angela, who noticed the Take the City building from across the road one day and was immediately drawn in.   “I walked into the prayer room, and it was like nothing I’d ever experienced before. I left feeling like it was the best day of my life! I went home and prayed with my grandchildren and the next morning, the atmosphere in the whole house was different. The kids were different. I was different,” Angela said.   On that day, Angela had walked right into a group of women from Redeem praying together. Since her first encounter, this dear lady has returned to Redeem and the Harvest House of Prayer many times. It was the Lord who brought her to us and as a result, her life and the lives of her family will never be the same! We love the high-impact events we hold each year and the discipling groups that build long-term relationships. The one-on-one encounters, though, where you look into a person’s eyes and see a light come on? That’s a joy like no other.   Today we’d like to offer you the opportunity to help more women like Angela by partnering with Take the City in its ministries. Our goal for the end of the year is $30,000. Yes, I want to help! Changing Lives. Reviving...

Because You Give…Another Addict Was Set Free

November 21, 2023

Because You Give...Another Addict Was Set Free Dear friends, We love the divine appointments the Lord leads us into with lost and broken people in our city. At an outdoor worship event we were hosting, Jon wandered into the tent to listen to the music. As we struck up a conversation, he confessed that he was an alcoholic, and unburdened his heart about the many years he had spent in addiction– how it had robbed him of his house, his family, and his possessions. He was tired… and ready to make a change.   We shared testimonies of how God had totally changed our own lives through the power of the gospel. Asking how he could have that same experience, we led Jon to Jesus then and there and asked if he wanted to be water baptized. He said yes! With 20 other believers as witnesses, we gleefully baptized this man who had just been made new and was now radiating with joy and hope! It really is the last line in the famous Starfish Story… “Made a difference to that one.” We’d like to offer you the opportunity to invest in more men like Jon by partnering with Take the City in its ministries. Our goal for the end of the year is $30,000 Yes, I want to help! Changing Lives. Reviving...

Because You Give…One Woman’s Life Has Been Changed Forever

Because You Give...One Woman's Life Has Been Changed Forever Dear friends, Jennesee Dean is now in the Army. That’s a big deal because it had been her dream since participating in JROTC in the 9th grade. That dream, while not crushed, succumbed to life’s pressures and choices which left Jennesee facing probation and needing to complete community service hours. Enter Take the City. Faithfully serving at least once a week through the Redeem Boutique, she not only successfully completed the requirement, but her fines were rescinded and she was released from probation six months early! Sitting in Harvest Coffee one day with Redeem’s coordinator, Cindy Gardner sharing the tasks she still had ahead of her, Jennesee was approached by a frequent HC customer and friend of TTC. He offered to help her accomplish her list, including obtaining a copy of her Social Security card. The customer also invited her to join in on an outreach led by college students who were handing out food & clothes in Auburn. “It was the first time I’d ever done anything like that,” Jennesee said. “Now my relationship with God has become stronger and I pray more.” To Take the City, that’s a big deal. We’re thankful to have a part in changing women’s lives through Redeem. We’d like to offer you the opportunity to help transform lives by partnering with Take the City in its ministries. Our goal for the end-of-the-year is $30,000. Yes, I want to help! Changing Lives. Reviving...

Harvest Day – Long Term Impact

November 1, 2023

Harvest Day - Long Term Impact During our monthly Saturday outreach, I had the chance to partner with George Pfannschmidt and his team at Anderson Park. When I arrived, the team already had a tent set up with chips, chili dogs, and goodie bags and were ministering to two ladies.  Before we began to pray, one of the women shared that she knew Cindy, the coordinator of our Redeem boutique. The woman shared how thankful she was that Cindy had given her clothes when she had nothing other than what she was wearing. Overcome with gratitude, we began praying for her and the second lady. At that moment, two more people walked up… one of whom had a very familiar face. One of them, Tina, said that we had met several years earlier at a Bible study in Andrew and Ellen Chalmers’ home. She beamed with pride as she remembered and shared that her son would volunteer to say the main Scripture from the Bible Study that he knew from memory. I rejoiced that their time spent with Andrew and Ellen had left such a positive and long-term impact. Many times, we do not know the impact of how our simple actions can bless someone else. We may just be doing what we always do– giving someone clothes, inviting people into our home to study the Bible, or even simply asking how someone’s day is going. One simple step of faith may very well be the act of Jesus that another person needs to thrive. Leave the results up to God.  -Katherine Server, Local Outreach...

Dream and Pray With Us

September 28, 2023

Dream and Pray With Us Dear friends and supporters,  I wanted to send out an important update with the goal of asking our community to pray. I believe that this year God is inviting us as an organization to dream with Him in new ways and to seek Him as never before. Our ministry has grown and expanded well beyond what I would have imagined when we first founded it in 2015. As we begin to gather our Board of Directors, advisors and team together to pray about making some adjustments, expansions and changes to the ministry, we want to ask you to commit to partnering with us in prayer for 90 days. Because we sense such a strong urging that God wants to do some big things this coming year, we’re being careful to be attentive to what He’s saying. Many of you know that our family has spent half of our time overseas over the past two years. Since our most recent return, we have experienced a renewed vision for what God wants to do locally and how it can be connected globally. As we begin to discern how God is leading us, we’re asking big questions and need the Lord to illuminate the path.  Three things that the Lord has made clear: 1. Continue in our unwavering commitment to prayer and the great commission. 2. Focus more efforts on making disciples and multiply our impact across the city and elsewhere. 3. Simplify our efforts while also increasing our impact.  As with any change and shift, there can be a sense of anticipation mixed with a bit...

Brittany

I have been serving in some way with Take the city since October 2013. I spent a lot of time on the prayer team in the beginning and encountered God’s heart for the city in a life changing way. When the teams came back and shared testimonies, it was always fun to see that our prayers coincided with some of their testimonies in special ways. More recently I have had the privilege of leading a team to a nursing home where I used to be an employee. I used to pray over the facility every day, and it was such a miracle to see an old friend who lives there give his life to Jesus on one of our outreaches a year later. God sure has a way of answering prayers. And Take the City is an answer to so many prayers that have gone up here.
