21 Days of Prayer Devotional
Day 7
Andrew Chalmers / Luke 23

“Two other men, both criminals, were also led out with Him to be executed. When they came to the place called the Skull, they crucified Him there, along with the criminals– one on His right, the other on His left. Jesus said, ‘Father, forgive them, they do not know what they are doing.'” (Luke 23:32-34 NIV)

Thought of the day

Jesus’ response as He was dying on the cross was a prayer of forgiveness. He was not just forgiving people who had wronged Him in the past, but people who were in the act of killing Him. Jesus told His followers they must forgive those who wrong them and here in Luke 23 He demonstrates it perfectly.

-Get a notebook out and spend time with Jesus, ready to take notes. Ask the Lord who you need to forgive. Write those names down and release them to the father.

“Getting to be a part of Take the City was such a blessing both in seeing how God moved in the lives of the people I met as well as how he moved in my heart. I was so encouraged to be surrounded by people willing to passionately pray for their city and the people in it. As we worshipped, people would stop and ask what was going on and we got to talk and pray with them. I felt a greater desire to pray for our nation grow in me as we sang and prayed together.”
