During our Take the City in March as we ventured out into the Young Ave community to introduce ourselves to our new neighborhood, we were full of anticipation of what the Lord was going to do. Every outreach we go on we expect to get to love on God’s people and watch God bring healing and salvation to so many around us.
Connecting with the community.
During our outreach, we passed out bags of candy with a letter from our family saying that we were praying for them and the whole neighborhood. We were able to deliver several bags and prayed for several families.
Soon enough we approached a little yellow house. Upon knocking an elderly lady answered with a great big smile. She said come in I need prayer I have arthritis. As we entered, this beautiful family began to share with us that they were in ministry and had been praying for this area for the past 30 years. We immediately felt a rush of the joy of the Lord. They explained, though the neighborhood grew worse with drugs and prostitution they continued to stand firm on their mission in interceding for the area.
Afterwards, we shared our story with them. We told them about Take the City and project lifehouse and how we had recently moved into the neighborhood. After hearing this, the elderly couple was extremely encouraged. They said “we’ve been praying for missionaries to move in this area!” We were all amazed how God had brought us together.
Jesus’ always seals the deal.
Just before leaving their house, we decided to pray for healing for the wife. It was as if instantaneously the presence of God fill the room and brought healing. She said “there’s no more pain!” Revival broke out in the living room.
This is one of many stories and testimonies to come for the Young ave community. We believe fully in God for his restoration and cleansing over this area.
Come join us.
