21 Days of Prayer Devotional
Day 3
Brandon McKenzie / Acts 13

SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY- MATT. 9:37-38

“Then He said to His disciples, ‘The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest field.'” (Matthew 9:37-38 ESV)

Thought of the day

Brandon mentions how praying this passage led him into action. Jesus also knew that his disciples needed to pray this prayer and first gain the Lord’s heart for the lost that they might, themselves, become laborers in the harvest field.

Questions to ponder

-Have I prayed earnestly for God to send laborers into the plentiful harvest fields that surround me?

-What can I do to begin praying this way?

-What specific areas in my city and community need laborers the most? When, today, can I spend time in prayer for gospel workers to be sent into those areas?

Brittany

I have been serving in some way with Take the city since October 2013. I spent a lot of time on the prayer team in the beginning and encountered God’s heart for the city in a life changing way. When the teams came back and shared testimonies, it was always fun to see that our prayers coincided with some of their testimonies in special ways. More recently I have had the privilege of leading a team to a nursing home where I used to be an employee. I used to pray over the facility every day, and it was such a miracle to see an old friend who lives there give his life to Jesus on one of our outreaches a year later. God sure has a way of answering prayers. And Take the City is an answer to so many prayers that have gone up here.
