21 Days of Prayer Devotional
Day 4
Andrew Chalmers / Acts 16

SCRIPTURE OF THE DAY- ACTS 16:25-26

About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the other prisoners were listening to them. Suddenly there was such a violent earthquake that the foundations of the prison were shaken. At once all the prison doors flew open, and everyone’s chains came loose.

Thought of the day

In this situation the circumstances for Paul and Silas were hopeless and bleak. But, as Andrew says, the two believers came in an “opposite spirit” and gave radical praise to God, even in the darkest of circumstances! This caused a shift to take place in their circumstances and resulted in deliverance, not only for them, but for those around them also.

Questions to ponder

-What situations in my life are causing me to despair in some measure?

-When can I take time today to come in an “opposite spirit” to those situations and give radical praise to the Lord?

-Do I believe God can change these situations with my praise? What can I do to strengthen my faith, today?

Even with only 2 Take the City Outreaches under my belt, they have made such an impact in my own personal journey of faith, and others I have crossed paths with! The most special part to me is knowing that even if I meet someone and I never see them again, I know God has allowed me to touch their heart and plant a seed that I couldn’t have done sitting at home. I’m so thankful for this organization because it truly has allowed me to connect with others, with the goal of bringing them closer to Christ, while becoming closer with God myself at the same time.
