We are thankful for our ministry partnership with Pastor Emmitt Aniton and the historic Friendship Baptist Church on 6th Ave in Downtown Columbus. We were blessed to join them for their annual Saturday community outreach in September. I’ve never felt more welcomed by any church family than Nancy and I experienced that Saturday. We were given a VIP tour of the building and enjoyed learning their story of faithfulness as a family of faith.
Taking the church outside of our buildings is an excellent opportunity to share with our communities that the Church is not our lovely buildings built to the glory of God, but we his children worshiping, praising, and sharing hospitality and love with our neighbors. (Jn. 13:35)

The morning kicked off at 10am with a welcome, worship, and praise under a tent. A message of Gospel encouragement was responded to by several rededications and new professions of faith. Mayor Skipper brought greetings from our City Council and encouraged more of this type of community outreach in our community by all churches. An excellent lunch followed with burgers, dogs, and all the trimmings. There was an amazing video gamers van that the young and young of heart enjoyed. Quite an amazing Saturday morning in downtown Columbus. Let us know if you have community outreaches at your churches that we can join in with you.
You and your church family are always welcome to join our Take the City Unity Night of Prayer at 6:30 PM on the 3rd Friday and outreach on the 3rd Saturday each month. Mark December 21-22 on your calendar and plan to join us at 2910 2nd Ave as we celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ by sharing Joy with our community.
