Columbus, GA is not only called the “City of Fountains”, but we can now call ourselves “A City of Evacuees”.
Jesus himself was an evacuee, moved away from his home due to King Herod seeking to end his life. He was in a place where he and his family knew no one, but and they only went on a word that an Angel of the Lord gave them, but yet God equipped them for the journey by the gifts that the Magi brought.
Today, we have such an incredible opportunity ourselves.
We have over 700 people currently taking refuge in our very own Columbus Civic Center. These people have been displaced due to Hurricane Irma, and are just trying to make sure their family is safe, sound, and taken care of, but have no means of which to provide for their own family.
There are some immediate needs that are needing to be taken care of, and if you would like to donate Items, going to the Columbus Civic Center and dropping them off is the best way to make sure they are distributed appropriately.
Items Needed (Must be in NEW condition):
Towels
Washcloths
Mouthwash
Flip Flops (Shower Shoes)
Feminine Products
We have many local and national organizations helping to alleviate needs for local evacuees. If you’d like to donate or learn more about their efforts, click on the links below.
