It’s been 3 years!

It’s been 3 years!

It’s been 3 years!

This whole year has been such an exciting year for our entire team with Take the City as we have watched God continue to move in tremendous ways. Our great passion as a ministry is to see the Body of Christ be brought together in unity and mobilized to see our cities transformed by the love of Jesus. This year we have been seeing these two things take place at a level we would have never dreamed of when we first launched Take the City three years ago.

This past weekend we held our Take the City outreach event and celebrated 3 consecutive years serving the Chattahoochee Valley. It was so exciting to see all the new people God has brought together and to look back at all God has done over these past years.

take the city eventOne thing that was fun for me was looking back at how launching the very first Take the City event was something I really didn’t want to plan. While I knew God was leading us to plan an outreach event in May of 2013, I also was well aware that it was going to be a lot of work to put an event like this together in just a few weeks. I am so thankful that instead of listening to my doubts our small team obeyed the voice of the Holy Spirit in launching the very first Take the City event.

The reality is that even after our first event we really had no idea that we were going to do the outreaches again. After some prayer and seeing what God had done in our city we then knew that we were to plan on doing it again the next month. We honestly had no idea that three years later we would still be doing the outreaches each month while also bringing Take the City to other cities around the country.

As I look back personally I am so thankful for all the people who have helped volunteer, pray and give towards our efforts. Our whole ministry is built of hundreds of people who have volunteered and helped us reach our community with the Gospel.  One thing I appreciate so much is the diversity of people who have gotten involved and have participated. We have so many varying races, ages and denominations that have truly enabled us to reach thousands of people over these past three years.

3ttcFor every person who has been involved on any level I want to say “THANK YOU” . Each and every person has played such a vital role in our ministry and we love and value each of you. We so appreciate you and hope to see you all soon for our upcoming events this summer!

My first encounter with Take the City was going to Wilson Apartments in Columbus GA. We were met by a man from that neighborhood who prayed with us before we began the outreach. We set up an area for the kids to play and others went door to door witnessing and praying for people. It truly was a humbling experience. Another time I got to pray at an abortion clinic which was another humbling experience. The worship services the night before are always dynamic and spirit led. However I will conclude with the best part for me was being an eight week participant of Take the City boot camp. All of the leaders were simply AWESOME and I learned so much during those eight weeks. I thank God for all these wonderful opportunities!
