On Saturday February 20, twenty-six believers from 10 different churches gathered at Take the City. The Lord moved in power! From worship and training to going out and ministering, the Lord’s peace and power spread throughout our city.
The following is just one testimony from Saturday written by Zach Siccardi (on left).
This past Saturday doing outreach with Take the City was definitely a surreal experience for my walk with Jesus. This was only my second time doing outreach, and I was so excited to come back and do it again. The Lord did so many amazing things in my life since getting involved here. God works in amazing ways and has been answering my prayers in mind-blowing ways.
The day before the outreach, for some reason, God kept putting the youth on my heart and the morning of the outreach that feeling was still there. So that is what I prayed for. I made it my mission to go out and find young people and let them know how much God loves them, which is more than they would possibly ever know. God sure did answer my prayer!
For about the first half of outreach we didn’t see any youth, and to be honest, I got a little bit discouraged but I knew that I needed to be patient, believing that God would put someone before me for a reason. God sure did do that. About 45 minutes prior to us having to leave we ran across this group of about 6 kids hanging out in their yards. They were listening to rap and one of them had a vape pen. I knew they were lost and needed to know God loved them. I instantly knew that this is what God was having me wait on.
I approached the group of kids and they seemed to be more than happy to talk with me about God. I just told them that I loved them more than they know and that God loved them more than they could ever imagine.
One thing I realized quickly, especially with kids, is that sometimes they just want to know that they are loved. Whenever I said that I saw a difference in their facial expressions and a little bit more joy in their appearance. I continued to talk to them about God and how they could change their lives around and truly live for the glorification of God.
As I was telling these kids, one of our team went over to the older brother and asked him if he wanted to encounter the Holy Spirit. He said yes, and right there in their front yard all of these young men received prayer and encouragement. Seeds were planted, and we’re believing God will bring the increase.
If you ever feel a calling to do outreach with Take the City I would take up that calling because it was one of the best and most humble experiences I have ever been a part of.
