News Update – August 2015

One of my favorite passages from the Gospels is when Jesus sends out the seventy-two in Luke chapter 10. Before He sends them he instructs them to pray for the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers and then immediately after that he instructs each of them to go. Not only does He entrust them with the privilege to pray but He also instructs them to GO.
What excites me most about what God is doing across our community is that Jesus is raising up laborers and sending them out into the abundant harvest that is waiting. Right now in spite of all that is happening in our nation we can rejoice because I believe that the Body of Christ is stepping up in ways that are unprecedented. As we see the Church coming together here in our community and walking in obedience to Christ’s command to “GO” we are starting to see lives transformed.

One highlight from this summer was a princess party we held in a lower-income housing development for the little girls and their moms living there. We had a team of women from various churches who were painting nails, doing makeup and offering glamour shots for all the little “princesses” living in that community. It was so exciting to see so many mothers and daughters touched by this outreach. Our team was able to share with them that in God’s eyes each of them are princesses and daughters when they accept Christ in their lives.
Please continue to pray for our team as we work on reaching new areas of our city and coordinating with new churches. Also pray for the communities we are reaching that we would continue to be more and more effective in bringing people into the family of God.

For the Kingdom,

Andrew Chalmers

My experience with the Take the City crew was like coming into a family.  Our team was welcomed in with open arms with like-hearted believers who love Jesus and have laid down their lives to serve the broken of the city! It was an honor to come alongside them, be welcomed into their homes, share meals, and experience the transformational work that God is doing in and through them to see His Kingdom come.
