Not What Was Expected, But God is still Good!

Saturday June 22 at 1:30pm, believers from all over the Chattahoochee Valley area were teeming with excitement as they set out from the Take the City building to minister to people and share the Gospel. One of our outreach leaders, along with her team, made their way down to the Riverwalk in downtown Columbus, GA. She and her team had a tent, chairs, and water ready to go.

As the team was setting up their station, they quickly came to realize that the tent they thought they had was in fact a large cushioned folding chair! Oh no! This was not what they expected! Thankfully, however, there was a large tree nearby with plenty of room for them to sit under and have protection from the sun and rain.

The team was able to give out 96 bottles of water, pray for many people, and witness the Lord heal a woman’s lungs! The woman came to the place where our outreach leader was sitting under the tree. The woman explained that she had a lung disease that caused her lungs to be restricted and her rib cage to cave in to her body. The outreach leader and a few volunteers prayed for her, and as they did, her lungs expanded and her rib cage returned to normal! The woman began to glow with excitement. She exclaimed, “I feel better!” She could breathe easier! Although the outreach didn’t start out as they had planned, God still provided and showed up in incredible ways. God is Good. All the Time. All the Time. God is Good.

My first encounter with Take the City was going to Wilson Apartments in Columbus GA. We were met by a man from that neighborhood who prayed with us before we began the outreach. We set up an area for the kids to play and others went door to door witnessing and praying for people. It truly was a humbling experience. Another time I got to pray at an abortion clinic which was another humbling experience. The worship services the night before are always dynamic and spirit led. However I will conclude with the best part for me was being an eight week participant of Take the City boot camp. All of the leaders were simply AWESOME and I learned so much during those eight weeks. I thank God for all these wonderful opportunities!
