November 2016 News Update

Every year during the month of November, Take the City hosts an event called “Thanksgiving Food Drive.”  During this event, we invite the local church and community to link arms to help provide Thanksgiving meals for those in need.  This year our goal was to give away 500 bags of food.

Fortunately, with the help many people from different churches and backgrounds coming together, we were able to feed 500 families in need. Many people helped by donating canned goods, giving financially and volunteering their time to help pack and give away the food.

Why do we do this?

A lot of the communities that we go into are low income communities. Many times we run into families or individuals who are facing a financial crisis. While our heart beat is to see the lost saved, the sick healed and lives restored, we love to create and build long lasting relationships. We’ve realized that meeting peoples needs is one of the best ways to show love.  If it’s clothes, we clothe them. If it’s prayer, we pray for them. If it’s food, we feed them.On the day of the event, 9 teams were sent out all across our city to neighborhoods, trailer parks and apartments to give away FREE food for Thanksgiving.  Each team was equipped with +50 bags of assorted thanksgiving goods. The teams would give away the bags to anyone that wanted one. They would also take time to pray and to share God’s love with them.

Featured Testimony.

“After praying with a father and his family, the father wanted to pray a blessing over us. As he did, he thanked God for brining us to his home. Taking his two bags of food, he left happy and so encouraged. Moments, later we were able to pray with another couple, a man and his wife.  We found out the wife had pain in her right knee. After praying with her, she tested her knee out and all the pain was gone. We all rejoiced together and praised God!”

That day, we were able to bless 500 hundred families in need. Many of them were encouraged in the Lord.  Our teams prayed and encouraged a total of 199 people.  17 of the people were healed physically/emotionally and 5 of the people received Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.

“His works are wonderful. We know that full well.”-Psalm 139:14

Thank you to all those who gave sacrificially of your time, energy, resources and money. Without you, we could not have done this.

Take the City has had a huge impact on me and my daughter. When God led me from one place, this door was wide opened. I had the great ability to experience more of God and see the signs that follow them that believed. *Mark 16:17-20*

The people I've met have showed soooooo much love to us and I'm grateful for that. Not only do they teach on truth, but they walk in the power of the Holy Spirit and encourage others around them to do so also!
God has also allowed me to be a part of a ministry as well.
I want to say thank you thank you God first and thank you to Take the City!!❤
