A woman, 60 days sober and safe, staying at the Trinity House women’s shelter came in for shoes. She was very anxious about finding some in time to start her new job at Goodwill the next day. She said she had been looking and had even gotten some at another clothing closet only to have them tear up in the washing machine. What was she going to do?! She had very little money left!
I asked her if she had prayed and asked the Holy Spirit to help her find her some shoes, and she looked at me funny and said no. I told her that He cares about what we care about. We prayed a short, heart-felt prayer for shoes before she went to the back to look.
As she was looking, my mechanic’s secretary came in with two bags of donations. The Lord prompted me to open them up immediately instead of putting them with the other bags to be sorted next week.
As I rummaged through the bags, guess what I found??? Yep you guessed it….SHOES! Beautiful brand new puma shoes that fit her like a glove! She was so happy!
I believe with all my heart that the Lord was showing her that he’s a personal God, and he cares for her and sees her….. what a loving God!

“Getting to be a part of Take the City was such a blessing both in seeing how God moved in the lives of the people I met as well as how he moved in my heart. I was so encouraged to be surrounded by people willing to passionately pray for their city and the people in it. As we worshipped, people would stop and ask what was going on and we got to talk and pray with them. I felt a greater desire to pray for our nation grow in me as we sang and prayed together.”
