God is continuing to move through the lives of our volunteers that serve with Redeem. In March, God touched the lives of a local group of women in Opelika, Alabama, to partner with the Redeemed ladies here in Columbus. These ladies were met on a previous outreach and are actively pursuing a life for Jesus. They will be taught how to sow bags and mend clothes. The volunteers will take one on one time to pour into them the love of Jesus for further discipleship.
The women from Opelika shared with Cindy and Jaketra that they too have been redeemed by the love of Christ. They shared powerful testimonies during a coffee visit with them of how they struggled with grief, alcoholism and perfectionism, yet God saw that they were beautifully made and healed them on the inside out.
We are excited to see how the Lord grows this mentorship program. Please be in prayer with us as we move toward this sewing project. We are in need of donations to get this project off the ground i.e. fabric, needles, fabric scissors, $155 to cover the cost of the sewing machines, and extra money for our volunteers to utilize.
If you or someone you know would be interested in helping, please contact our Volunteer Coordinator, Jaketra Bryant at Jaketra@take-the-city.com.
Even with only 2 Take the City Outreaches under my belt, they have made such an impact in my own personal journey of faith, and others I have crossed paths with! The most special part to me is knowing that even if I meet someone and I never see them again, I know God has allowed me to touch their heart and plant a seed that I couldn’t have done sitting at home. I’m so thankful for this organization because it truly has allowed me to connect with others, with the goal of bringing them closer to Christ, while becoming closer with God myself at the same time.
