Description of Outreach Challenge

On Saturday July 18, we had an online outreach. We shared about what is coming up locally with Take the City as well as delivered an outreach challenge. The challenge was to “Stop for the One”, to identify one person you would pray for or share the Gospel with this week. Several people had powerful encounters with people in a grocery store or simply walking outside at the park. The following is one of those stories.

Stopping for the One

Stephanie watched online and commented on Facebook that she would stop for the one. The next day, she arrived at the grocery store in Columbus, GA. Among other things, she had the challenge on her mind. Before she got out of the car, she asked God to show her ‘the One whose heart He was working on’. She roamed around the store for several minutes, picking up the various food items she needed. Having found everything, she walked back to the front to wait in line to check out. As she stood there, she noticed a man off her right shoulder. He began talking to her, and shortly into their conversation, she knew she had found the ‘One’ that she was meant to stop for.

Johnny’s Story

Johnny was sharing how he had gone to church that morning for the first time in 10 years! He explained that he had dealt with a lot of loss. He lost both his wife and brother on the same day several years ago. The pain he felt from their deaths had led him into a sinful life. He felt the weight of his sin as the service began, and he could not hold his emotion in any longer. Johnny cried the whole service.

With compassion in her eyes, Stephanie said, “Johnny, the Holy Spirit was revealing His love to you; Jesus wanted to cleanse you of your sin and give you a new life in Jesus.”

Johnny said, “I need that. I want to live for Jesus”.

So, as Stephanie put it “Right then we prayed and he accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior”.

Since that day, we have received his phone number, and one of our team from Take the City is reaching out to him to get him a Bible and begin to disciple him so that he can disciple others.

God is moving powerfully! He is faithful to help us find the “One”!

Tyrone

I learned about Take The City through a young lady at our church about 5 years ago and after going on my first outreach, I was HOOKED. I fell in love with the family environment, organic evangelism, and genuine love that I experience here.  The training, connections, and opportunities that I’ve been blessed with here have been nothing short of life-changing!  God bless my TTC family.
