Street Outreach – Redeem

Street Outreach – Redeem

Redeem, one of our initiatives, has a mission to see the end of commercial sexual exploitation through outreach, discipleship, community, and prayer.

On a recent Street Outreach, our team encountered a homeless couple who were both struggling with addictions. The lady said she loved the Lord but had been hurt by the church. The gentleman was struggling with addiction and choosing to follow the Lord versus the other voices in his head. While our team was conversing with the couple and ministering to them, the homeless gentleman began prophesying words of encouragement over one of our volunteers. Every word the man said spoke directly to the volunteer, so much so, that tears streamed down our volunteer’s face. It’s amazing to see how God can use the most unlikely of people to speak into our lives. We are thankful that our team had the chance to meet this beautiful man and woman.

I have been serving in some way with Take the city since October 2013. I spent a lot of time on the prayer team in the beginning and encountered God’s heart for the city in a life changing way. When the teams came back and shared testimonies, it was always fun to see that our prayers coincided with some of their testimonies in special ways. More recently I have had the privilege of leading a team to a nursing home where I used to be an employee. I used to pray over the facility every day, and it was such a miracle to see an old friend who lives there give his life to Jesus on one of our outreaches a year later. God sure has a way of answering prayers. And Take the City is an answer to so many prayers that have gone up here.
