Summer Ministry Update

It’s hard to believe that we are already half-way through the year 2019! It’s already been an incredible year so far and we wanted to provide a brief ministry update about what all has happened in the past six months and share about some things that are coming up in the near future. God has truly been working and providing abundant grace for our whole team of staff, leaders and volunteers to impact many with the gospel. Thank you for your continued prayers and support of our movement.

For this update I want to split up our previous six months into three categories based on the Take the City mission statement. Our mission is to unify and mobilize the Body of Christ to see entire cities revitalized. I want to use the three words, Unify, Mobilize and Revitalize, to categorize just a few of the things we have been able to accomplish these last six months.

The following are some of the efforts we have been working towards and events that we have held that have been in an effort to help unify the Body of Christ in the Chattahoochee Valley and in other cities around America.

  • Revival on the River 2019 – We hosted over 2500 people from all over our region together for a special night of worship, prayer and the preaching of the gospel.
  • United in Prayer Meetings – This year we hosted 21 days of nightly prayer meetings at the beginning of the year that involved dozens of different pastors and worship leaders. We’ve also hosted a monthly united in prayer gathering for people from various churches in the community.
  • Redeem Community Day – We hosted a community day in coordination with the local Rotary club to help spread awareness about sex-trafficking in our city.

The following are a few of the things that we have done that have been focused on helping to mobilize church members to go out and share the gospel.

  • Monthly Community Outreach Events – We’ve hosted a monthly community outreach event sending out teams across our local area to share the gospel.
  • Redeem Sex Trafficking outreaches – We’ve hosted 10+ late night outreaches to minister to women in sex trafficking and even hosted a weekend long outreach in a motel known for trafficking.
  • Training events – We’ve hosted several training events this year already in cities around the US. We also hosted a special Wholeness Seminar locally focused on training people in wholeness ministry.
  • Reach School Spring 19 – We had 15 students join our Reach School classes this spring! Our graduation is 10am on June 29th.

The following are just a few of the items that we’ve been doing this year to work toward long-term city transformation and revitalization.

  • Project: Lifehouse – East Highland – We moved the Bedsole family into the East Highland area of Columbus, GA this Spring. They moved here all the way from Oregon! They are working to build relationships and re-build that neighborhood.
  • Bradley Circle Playground and Community Garden – With our strategic church partner for Bradley Circle, Grace Presbyterian Church, we’ve been able to plant a garden and also build a new playground for the Bradley Circle community in Columbus, GA.
  • The Basics CV – We’ve been able to partner with other leaders and join an initiative to help improve early childhood literacy through this new program being launched in our area!

Bradley Circle Playground

We raised over $7,000 in one week for this brand new play ground for our Bradley Circle community area!

Fun Stuff Coming up soon!

Here are a few things we’re really looking forward to towards the end of this year.

  • Fall REACH SCHOOL – Starts in August! Sign up today if you’re interested in joining our reach school for this fall. Classes will be meeting weekly on Tuesday nights for 16 weeks. The school is $450.
  • Freedom the Flourish – This November we’re hosting our very first city-wide women’s conference! If you are interested in getting involved with this event or attending please email Ellen at
  • Redeem Sex-trafficking outreach opportunities – We have a need for more volunteers to help with Redeem this fall! If you are interested in getting involved please email

Thanks for taking the time to read this update! We’re so excited to see all that God is doing. Thank you for praying for our whole team and ministry. We believe that God is giving us vision for the next five years that is going to require a whole new measure of faith and grace. Please pray specifically for wisdom and understanding as we seek God for direction in launching new initiatives and focuses that will reach more for Christ.

My experience with the Take the City crew was like coming into a family.  Our team was welcomed in with open arms with like-hearted believers who love Jesus and have laid down their lives to serve the broken of the city! It was an honor to come alongside them, be welcomed into their homes, share meals, and experience the transformational work that God is doing in and through them to see His Kingdom come.
