Local Outreach – Chattahoochee Valley

September 29, 2020

On Saturday morning September 19, people from different churches gathered at Take the City for worship and outreach. After a short training and prayer, six groups of people were sent out around the city to minister the Gospel. Tyrone Baskin and his team felt led to go downtown and join up with two other churches who were ministering together. Tyrone and his group made their way downtown and connected with Pastor Mark and Pastor Kuturi and their team, who were preaching on a mic and praying for people as they came by. Wasting no time, Tyrone and his team jumped in. As they prayed for people, Tyrone and his team noticed a woman hanging around and listening. His team asked if they could pray for her. She said yes. Afterwards, a guy from Pastor Kuturi’s church began to talk with her and minister to her further. She teared up and said, “I want to leave this lifestyle. I don’t want to be a Lesbian anymore. I need Jesus”. Right then and there, she gave her life to Christ. The guy from Pastor Kuturi’s church gave her a book to help her through her same-sex attraction, and she will continue to be discipled by Pastor Mark in the days to come.  Praise Jesus! He is touching people all over the Valley and setting them free!  If you would like to get involved with local outreaches, email...

Why Pray?

August 28, 2020

We recently had a very powerful week in the prayer room. We saw real breakthrough as people gathered and worshiped throughout the week. Lives were touched and changed. People were activated in prayer and worship. New volunteers signed up. The presence of God was tangible all week long!  Obviously this was very exciting for me as the coordinator of the prayer room. All week I found it easy to wake up and feel the joy of the Lord, to seek Him in my quiet time, and even to share my faith with total strangers. However, something strange happened to me that Saturday. I woke up and prayed just like everyday before. I read my Bible. I was faithful in my personal devotion to Jesus, yet I didn’t feel amazing like I had all week. I felt foggy and weighed down. I found myself questioning what was wrong with the way I was praying… After a little thought, I suddenly realized that I had unwittingly diminished prayer into a formula. I’d allowed my prayer life to be motivated by positive feelings. This led me to ask myself an important question: why do I pray at all? This question led to an even bigger one: why do we need a house of prayer? Surely it had to be more than just good feelings!  Examples of Prayer in the Bible Themes of prayer run throughout the entire Bible, but there are times where prayer absolutely stands out. From walking with Adam in the cool of the day (Gen. 3:8) to speaking to Moses through a burning bush (Exod. 3), to using the...

Stop for the One – Online Outreach Challenge

July 30, 2020

Description of Outreach Challenge On Saturday July 18, we had an online outreach. We shared about what is coming up locally with Take the City as well as delivered an outreach challenge. The challenge was to “Stop for the One”, to identify one person you would pray for or share the Gospel with this week. Several people had powerful encounters with people in a grocery store or simply walking outside at the park. The following is one of those stories. Stopping for the One  Stephanie watched online and commented on Facebook that she would stop for the one. The next day, she arrived at the grocery store in Columbus, GA. Among other things, she had the challenge on her mind. Before she got out of the car, she asked God to show her ‘the One whose heart He was working on’. She roamed around the store for several minutes, picking up the various food items she needed. Having found everything, she walked back to the front to wait in line to check out. As she stood there, she noticed a man off her right shoulder. He began talking to her, and shortly into their conversation, she knew she had found the ‘One’ that she was meant to stop for. Johnny’s Story Johnny was sharing how he had gone to church that morning for the first time in 10 years! He explained that he had dealt with a lot of loss. He lost both his wife and brother on the same day several years ago. The pain he felt from their deaths had led him into a sinful life. He...

The Beautiful Exchange – Redeem

June 30, 2020

From a helping hand to now transforming lives. These are the testimonies we are already seeing through the Beautiful Exchange Clothing Closet. Through the community, we are receiving AMAZING donations to offer to these women for an opportunity to sit down with them, pray with them, and hear their stories and dreams. Our desire is to build trust with them and help them get into a program that could help them overcome prostitution, homelessness, addiction, and other life-altering issues! Just last week, a man and a woman chose to get off the streets and into a program! We are so encouraged to see God not only use this closet to help with tangible needs but also launch people into wholeness and their destinies.  We also were able to help our sweet friend Charlette find sobriety and get into a program weeks before taking her last breath here on earth. She had suffered from COPD for years and our team was able to minister to her and encourage her to go after the things of the Kingdom instead of the things of the world. She rededicated her life to Jesus and is now dancing in paradise with Him! We are believing for miracles to break out within her family who are now connected with us.     We are honored to partner with the community, Damascus Way, and many of you who have made this dream possible! The gospel is still transforming hearts, and we won’t stop until we see every heart touched!  Go to takethecity.com/redeem to read how you can be more...

“Today, I believe I stepped into my destiny!” – Cindy

May 27, 2020

Transformation follows surrender. Many of you know Cindy! Jesus has radically touched her heart over the years. She has overcome SO much in her life and is now helping other women out of the life of addiction and off the streets! It is truly a beautiful sight to see the way she so selflessly loves each and every woman that she encounters. Just her testimony to these women gives them hope for their future! When Cindy fully surrendered everything, she had no idea what Jesus had in store for her! The blessings just keep coming and coming in her life.  She is now in the process of becoming the Clothing Closet Coordinator for our women’s ministry! She has already impacted many lives through the process of getting our closet ready for action. After one day of helping 4 women, she tells us, as she chokes back tears, “Today, I believe I stepped into my destiny!”  That day, Charlotte, one of the four women, made the brave decision to go to a long term treatment! Let’s continue to pray for her journey to freedom. We are so thankful for all of those who have donated clothes, hygiene products and food to further our reach to women in addiction, prostitution & trafficking. These precious gifts are a direct message of the beautiful exchange Jesus showed us on the cross & by His...

TAKE THE CITY outreaches have been so special to me. I love being able to see the hand of GOD move in peoples lives as they are healed and families restored. GOD cares about every detail of our lives and he reaches the places that only HE can only heal! Its been an honor to see all the teams go out and share the LOVE that GOD has instilled and filled the teams with, and let it pour out to all the community. Having physical needs met also assures all we encounter, the faithfulness of our Father. So many times I have cried seeing what GOD is doing… Being able to see people brought into the KINGDOM and freedom Spirit, Soul, Mind and Body. Is the greatest treasure in my life. I am grateful for TAKE THE CITY allowing me to have front seat and seeing GOD move in peoples lives!
