Harvest House of Prayer – How to Satisfy Your Hunger for God

August 29, 2022

Harvest House of Prayer - How to Satisfy Your Hunger for God Have you ever felt an uncommon hunger for God that no amount of corporate gatherings could satisfy? There are times when the Lord beckons us deeper into the secret place of prayer. There are seasons when the only thing that seems to fill our hearts’ desire is to be alone with Him, one-on-one. I have experienced this on multiple occasions in my own walk with the Lord. In my early days of Christianity, I would seek to fulfill this longing by any means possible except by going to the Lord in my secret place. As I matured, I learned that when this desire strikes my heart, the only thing that really satisfies my longing for Him… is Him.  Although that answer may seem obvious, it can be difficult to realize! After all, there are so many other things we can find to occupy our time other than the Lord Himself. So many other things clammer for our attention. But when an uncommon hunger for God arises in the human spirit only one thing will satisfy it. What I’ve discovered is that only God can satisfy hunger for God! I believe many of you that are reading this have sensed this hunger in your own lives. In this blog, I want to give you three big keys to discovering God in the secret place of personal devotion to Jesus. Get Alone with God Jesus stated in Matthew (v. 6:6) that when we pray we should “go into [our] room, shut the door, and pray to [our] Father…” (NIV)....

Harvest Day – Wells Family Testimony

May 27, 2022

Harvest Day - Wells Family Testimony Evangelism is not an event, IT’S A LIFESTYLE! Evangelism simply means spreading the gospel of Jesus. There are many ways it can be done but it should be done by all believers. Jesus should be as much a part of our conversations as our spouses, children, families, friends, hobbies, or anything else that we love are. Why wouldn’t we talk about Jesus? We love him! He has saved us and set us free. We can’t help but talk about him every chance we get. Harvest Day, our monthly outreach event, equips individuals to share their faith as they go out in teams together spreading across many different neighborhoods in our cities. Our greater desire is for this training to extend well beyond the reach of our monthly event and into the everyday circles of influence of all who attend.  Our friends Adam and Saretta Wells, along with their three young sons, recently attended Harvest Day and took the training they received and the experience shared with the team into their own neighborhood. Saretta agreed to share this testimony with us. I hope as you read it you find strength and encouragement to begin your lifestyle of evangelism. We came to our first outreach with Take the City in the beginning of 2022. We were placed with Ms. Maya and were blessed to go out in her area around Young Avenue. She made it easy for all of us, including our children, to be involved as the Lord led, and we had an awesome experience. The Lord gave our group many words of knowledge...

Harvest Day Testimony

March 23, 2022

Harvest Day Testimony During our morning training session for this month’s outreach, Andrew shared the vision of Harvest Equipping School starting this year. He spoke of how Take the City was believing that God is going to raise up Latino and African American men and women in our city to go to the nations even to the 10/40 Window, which is home to over 6000 unreached people groups. As he was sharing this vision of the 10/40 Window, the time was 10:40am. Later, during outreach, one team led a young Latino to the Lord. Another team encountered a non-English speaking Latino family and, as the Lord would have it, Chaplain Emilio Rosa was with this team and able to minister to the entire family in Spanish. The Lord is already confirming his Word! He is so faithful!! -Chuck Odum, Outreach Coordinator Join us for our next outreach April 23rd @10am at 2910 2nd Ave! If you have any questions, email...

Why is Jesus called Jesus Christ or the Messiah?

November 30, 2020

Have you ever wondered why Jesus from the Bible is called Jesus Christ? In this short bible study, we look at some of the reasons why Jesus is called the Christ or the messiah.     In this session, we look at some of the reasons why Jesus is called the Christ or the Messiah. All through the accounts about Jesus in the gospels, we see him referred to as the Christ. In order to truly understand why this title is important, we must look at some prophecies from the Bible. What we discover when we look through the bible is that the people of Israel had long been waiting for a promised “Messiah” or “Christ”. When Jesus was called the Christ it meant that people were claiming that he was the one they had long been waiting for! “But these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Messiah…” John 20:30-31 The word Messiah comes from a Hebrew word that means “anointed one”. This Hebrew term was used to specifically point out those that God had appointed for a specific assignment or purpose. When someone was anointed, they were set apart to fulfill God’s plan. The people of Israel knew that there were many prophecies about this coming king who would be a “messiah” or anointed one. There were many prophecies that pointed to this person that they were long expecting and in the gospels we discover that Jesus fulfills all of their expectations. We see that Jesus came as the messiah they had long been waiting for. Jesus is the anointed king of Israel that...

Zan

Take the City has had a huge impact on me and my daughter. When God led me from one place, this door was wide opened. I had the great ability to experience more of God and see the signs that follow them that believed. *Mark 16:17-20*

The people I've met have showed soooooo much love to us and I'm grateful for that. Not only do they teach on truth, but they walk in the power of the Holy Spirit and encourage others around them to do so also!
God has also allowed me to be a part of a ministry as well.
I want to say thank you thank you God first and thank you to Take the City!!❤
