Sharing hope with our neighbors in the Spring of Covid-19

May 1, 2020

Take the City has refocused our ministries during the past month with schools, businesses, and stores closed, and many neighbors out of work. We have shifted to sharing hope and boxes of food in our Lifehouse communities surrounding our offices including Bradley Circle, Young Avenue, and East Highlands communities. We have distributed more than 300 boxes of food to these communities and the Fox Elementary families. Is your church family looking for an opportunity to become involved in reaching Columbus communities with the love, joy, and peace of the Gospel of Jesus Christ? Take the City is looking for a couple of new LifeHouse ministry partners to join with us in supporting and encouraging our urban missionary families in community ministry and monthly outreaches in both the Young Ave community off of Veterans Parkway and Garden Dr off Cosetta Rd. Young Ave Garden Dr Call me to schedule a time we can sit down and discuss how your church family would like to partner in reaching Columbus communities with the light and love of Jesus. I’d be pleased to buy you a cup of coffee at our new Harvest Coffee Co, located in our offices at 2910 2nd Ave. Louis A. Chalmers, Jr. LifeHouse Director...

Would your Church like to become a Lifehouse Ministry Partner?

June 14, 2019

Thanks to Pastor Chuck Hasty and Grace Presbyterian Church for becoming our first Lifehouse Ministry Partners at our Bradley Circle Lifehouse. What a blessing and encouragement they are to Andrew and Ellen and their community ministry. They donate monthly to fund the cookouts and community outreach, work diligently in the community garden, and lead the Fall and Spring home Bible studies and discipleship. We are praying for God to call out three additional Lifehouse Ministry Partners this summer. We currently have two completed Lifehouses that stand in need of a Church like yours to step into these ministry opportunities to plant and plow in God’s kingdom in East Highlands on 26th St and in Bibb City on Young Ave.   Our third ministry opportunity is a house in South Columbus on Garden Dr. off Cusseta Rd. This house is waiting for revitalization and repairs to make ready for an urban missionary family to become a neighbor and share the light and love of Jesus through prayer, encouragement, cookouts, community outreach, and home Bible studies.  Your Church family can invest in remodeling the kitchen and bathroom, replacing doors and windows, and installing an HVAC system. Please contact me, Louis Chalmers at louis@take-the-city.com  or Andrew Chalmers at andrew@take-the-city.com to learn more about how your Church family can become a LifeHouse Ministry Partner with Take the...

United In Prayer

February 15, 2019

What is United in Prayer? United in Prayer is an initiative of Take the City which unifies local believers for worship and intercession to prepare the way for lives to be transformed by the love and power of Jesus. What does the Church need today? “What the Church needs to-day is not more machinery or better, not new organizations or more and novel methods, but men whom the Holy Ghost can use — men of prayer, men mighty in prayer. The Holy Ghost does not flow through methods, but through men. He does not come on machinery, but on men. He does not anoint plans, but men — men of prayer.” ― E.M. Bounds, Power Through...

Saturate The Valley

September 15, 2018

As we pray and share the good news, there is a spirit of expectation and excitement filing our neighborhoods! God is restoring His Church, healing its brokenness, breaking down dividing walls and preparing a mighty army. As more and more ministries join hands for the good work, we are overjoyed and bursting with expectation. Habakkuk 2:14 speaks of a day when the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord as the waters cover the sea. Waters covering the sea? That’s saturation! God’s plan is for the whole earth to be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord by His Spirit in us, His Church, every day and in every way! God’s plan is Gospel Saturation!...

My experience with the Take the City crew was like coming into a family.  Our team was welcomed in with open arms with like-hearted believers who love Jesus and have laid down their lives to serve the broken of the city! It was an honor to come alongside them, be welcomed into their homes, share meals, and experience the transformational work that God is doing in and through them to see His Kingdom come.
