Bradley Circle Community Christmas Party

January 31, 2020

How do you and your family like to celebrate the Birth of our Savior Jesus Christ? Meals, Christmas carols, presents, and a sharing of the story of the coming of the Christ child? Andrew and Ellen Chalmers, our Lifehouse missionaries, along with Pastor Chuck Hasty and their Grace Presbyterian church community partners put on an old fashioned Christmas celebration to be remembered! They began by canvassing their community to pass out personal and written invitations to join their party on December 23. Prior to the party, Ellen and Andrew hosted the Bradley Circle children for a coloring contest to prepare decorations for the party and bake some of Ellen’s amazing cookies. Grace Presbyterian joined with RiverTown Church to buy presents for the community. The Bradley Circle LifeHouse was filled with 30+ of the community plus a large group from Grace Presbyterian in an evening of good food, fellowship, and present opening. Pastor Chuck then shared a Christmas devotional with the group and invited all to join in a community caroling outing to end this celebration of the birth of our Savior.  The evening concluded with caroling from house to house in the Bradley Circle community bringing glad tidings of the coming of God’s peace and goodwill to all mankind at the Birth of Jesus Christ- Emmanuel, God with us and for us! Reminds this writer of an old fashion Walton Christmas celebration… You can experience the joy of this community LifeHouse celebration by watching the video below: Louis A. W.A.R. Weekend – Redeem – Power & Transformation

This past weekend, our Redeem ministry team rented out a local motel room and had constant prayer, worship, and outreach. Friday January 24th started out like any other day. Jessica Cronin along with a few volunteers ran around taking care of last minute items to prepare for the weekend. The team met up at the hotel and began their weekend with worship and prayer. Even from the first note, the atmosphere began to shift. Music filled the air, and guests staying in the motel were drawn to Jesus. In the first night alone, the Redeem team were able to help a woman and her two children get off the streets, and see 4 people give their lives to Christ. The next day, the team split up into groups of two to three people and walked around the area. Their heart in going out was to minister and share the love of Jesus. In route, Jonathan Cronin and a friend of his met a man named Kevin and his wife Alana. Kevin had been bound to a wheelchair all his life. This inspired the guys to pray for him, believing that Jesus would heal his legs and that he would be able to stand up and leave his wheelchair. Laying their hands on the man’s shoulders, Jonathan and his friend began to pray. As they did, the power of Jesus showed up in great measure. The man began to feel strength in his legs. Encouraged, the man tried to stand up. He did!!! He even began to walk forward!!! His wife wanted to cry but she was too elated to...

Friendship Baptist Church Community Outreach

November 26, 2019

We are thankful for our ministry partnership with Pastor Emmitt Aniton and the historic Friendship Baptist Church on 6th Ave in Downtown Columbus. We were blessed to join them for their annual Saturday community outreach in September. I’ve never felt more welcomed by any church family than Nancy and I experienced that Saturday. We were given a VIP tour of the building and enjoyed learning their story of faithfulness as a family of faith. Taking the church outside of our buildings is an excellent opportunity to  share with our communities that the Church is not our lovely buildings built to the glory of God, but we his children worshiping, praising, and sharing hospitality and love with our neighbors. (Jn. 13:35) The morning kicked off at 10am with a welcome, worship, and praise under a tent. A message of Gospel encouragement was responded to by several rededications and new professions of faith. Mayor Skipper brought greetings from our City Council and encouraged more of this type of community outreach in our community by all churches. An excellent lunch followed with burgers, dogs, and all the trimmings.  There was an amazing video gamers van that the young and young of heart enjoyed. Quite an amazing Saturday morning in downtown Columbus. Let us know if you have community outreaches at your churches that we can join in with you.  You and your church family are always welcome to join our Take the City Unity Night of Prayer at 6:30 PM on the 3rd Friday and outreach on the 3rd Saturday each month. Mark December 21-22 on your calendar and plan to join us at 2910 2nd...

Redeem Outreach

During one of our outreaches this month we saw many miracles happen within our city. Prior to going out on the streets, we spent a while worshipping and praying. During that time, we asked God to show us what He wanted to do tonight. Everyone in the room heard something in relation to downtown Columbus. We finished praying and split into three teams. We drove downtown and began walking around, sharing the love of Jesus everywhere we went. Among our teams, we were able to minister to people in many different walks of life: atheist, homosexuality, and military families. The love of Christ knows no borders and is available for everyone. We saw many peoples’ hearts opened by the love of Jesus in us, and their hearts being delivered from bondage. We know the call on our lives is to love God and be radically obedient to His leading. We are seeing our team come alive as we go to the lost and experience what they were created for: being His hands and His feet.  Be Praying! We are still following up with those we met and are believing for great breakthrough!  Email Jessica Cronin at jessica@take-the-city.com to get...

TAKE THE CITY outreaches have been so special to me. I love being able to see the hand of GOD move in peoples lives as they are healed and families restored. GOD cares about every detail of our lives and he reaches the places that only HE can only heal! Its been an honor to see all the teams go out and share the LOVE that GOD has instilled and filled the teams with, and let it pour out to all the community. Having physical needs met also assures all we encounter, the faithfulness of our Father. So many times I have cried seeing what GOD is doing… Being able to see people brought into the KINGDOM and freedom Spirit, Soul, Mind and Body. Is the greatest treasure in my life. I am grateful for TAKE THE CITY allowing me to have front seat and seeing GOD move in peoples lives!
