Calling All Worship Leaders

June 29, 2022

Calling All Worship Leaders The Harvest House of Prayer vision is to have 40 hours of live worship and prayer every single week. We are well on our way and would love to have you join us. If you are a worship leader, we invite you to partner with us in creating a constant flow of sweet worship to the Lord!  Whether you are a beginner or have years of experience, the main thing we are looking for is those whose hearts are set on worshiping the Lord Jesus. If you love to be in His presence and minister to His heart through song and music—regardless if the room is empty or full—you are exactly the person we are looking for! Right now, our two greatest needs are weekly commitments to lead worship on Tuesdays, 6-7pm and Thursdays, 7-8pm. If you are interested or know someone who may be interested, please let us know by e-mailing Brandon at hhop@take-the-city.com. CINDY’S TESTIMONY OF LEADING WORSHIP AT HHOP I started singing in front of people when I was 3 years old. I was taught music performance up until my second year of college—how to properly stand, act….perform. My dream was to sing in the Metropolitan Opera. I trained for it. Then, I fell in love with God and that dream changed. My worship spot in the prayer room is at 7 a.m., so it’s usually just me and Him. This time alone has given me the opportunity and the “practice” of just being, loving, and hanging out — with Him. It’s wiped out the concern of what people think, i.e. performance,...

Redeem – Seeing God’s Love in Tangible Ways

Redeem - Seeing God's Love in Tangible Ways During our Friday night outreach, our team was able to pray for a woman named Shaniece at a local strip club. She specifically asked prayer for her marriage. Two weeks later, Shaniece contacted us with a praise report! Her husband came home, reuniting their little family, and on top of that, they are going back to church! God is so good! At Harvest Coffee one day, Ms. Dorris stopped in at the prompting of the Holy Spirit. She asked if there was any way we could help her with a shower since her water had been shut off a week ago. What do you know?! We had just finished getting our new shower installed, cleaned, and ready to receive people by that morning! On top of getting a shower, we were able to give her fresh clothes in just her size. The Lord provided for her every need. This is just the beginning of loving these women through our boutique: The Beautiful Exchange.  All are welcome to our Grand Opening July 12 at 11 am at Take the City.  Come and help us pray over this new space and celebrate what God is doing! A special thank you to all of our donors and volunteers who have made this day happen! P.S. If you are curious about outreach with Redeem, please email...

Harvest House of Prayer – Off to Kansas City

May 28, 2022

Harvest House of Prayer - Off to Kansas City In early May, I (Brandon McKenzie) packed my bags and met some of our team in Kansas City, Missouri, for The Send— a massive stadium gathering where tens of thousands of Christians gathered to become mobilized in the call to global missions. While the main event was held on Saturday, May 14th, an equally significant event called The Procession preceded it. From May 9th-13th thousands descended upon Truman Field for five consecutive days of unceasing worship, prayer, and gospel proclamation.  There were moments throughout these gatherings where I physically could not contain myself from praising God. The atmosphere was absolutely charged with the very presence of God. As I looked out into this vast and diverse crowd of believers, young and old alike, singing their hearts out to Jesus, my heart was filled with hope and faith for the future of the Church.  A Lost Hope Restored Let’s face it, since 2020, we’ve been inundated with bad news. In the midst of a multi-faceted global crisis, I have felt my heart sink into despair on multiple occasions. However, the sight of mass unity and zeal for the Lord that I witnessed in Kansas City encouraged my soul with an immutable biblical truth that “the light shines in the darkness and the darkness has not overcome it” (John 1:5 NIV). In other words, it is in times of great darkness that the Church shines the brightest! After all, some of the greatest revivals in history happened in the midst of national and global crises. I am convinced we really are on...

Harvest Day – Wells Family Testimony

May 27, 2022

Harvest Day - Wells Family Testimony Evangelism is not an event, IT’S A LIFESTYLE! Evangelism simply means spreading the gospel of Jesus. There are many ways it can be done but it should be done by all believers. Jesus should be as much a part of our conversations as our spouses, children, families, friends, hobbies, or anything else that we love are. Why wouldn’t we talk about Jesus? We love him! He has saved us and set us free. We can’t help but talk about him every chance we get. Harvest Day, our monthly outreach event, equips individuals to share their faith as they go out in teams together spreading across many different neighborhoods in our cities. Our greater desire is for this training to extend well beyond the reach of our monthly event and into the everyday circles of influence of all who attend.  Our friends Adam and Saretta Wells, along with their three young sons, recently attended Harvest Day and took the training they received and the experience shared with the team into their own neighborhood. Saretta agreed to share this testimony with us. I hope as you read it you find strength and encouragement to begin your lifestyle of evangelism. We came to our first outreach with Take the City in the beginning of 2022. We were placed with Ms. Maya and were blessed to go out in her area around Young Avenue. She made it easy for all of us, including our children, to be involved as the Lord led, and we had an awesome experience. The Lord gave our group many words of knowledge...

Harvest House of Prayer – April Update

May 11, 2022

Harvest House of Prayer - April Update It is always amazing to see how each initiative at Take the City affects all the others. This month at Harvest House of Prayer my greatest joy has been seeing God use our prayer room as an entryway into other areas of our ministry. Two people come to mind in particular. One day, two people came to our prayer room and loved it. As they looked around, they quickly realized there was more to Take the City than just prayer and worship. Not long after coming, they joined our monthly outreach and found a passion for evangelism they didn’t know that they had. Another highlight was this month’s Harvest Night. While the attendance wasn’t as high as normal, there were many new connections formed. We had 15 churches, 2 new ministries, and 10 new people in attendance. Two of these individuals were folks we know in the neighborhood who have never stepped foot into a worship service at our facility. I took this as a great sign that we are seeing fresh breakthroughs in our evangelism and discipleship efforts! Our next Harvest Night is May 19th and we would love to see you there! Doors open at 6:30pm so make sure you mark your calendars! –Brandon McKenzie, Harvest of Prayer...

Olivia

Even with only 2 Take the City Outreaches under my belt, they have made such an impact in my own personal journey of faith, and others I have crossed paths with! The most special part to me is knowing that even if I meet someone and I never see them again, I know God has allowed me to touch their heart and plant a seed that I couldn’t have done sitting at home. I’m so thankful for this organization because it truly has allowed me to connect with others, with the goal of bringing them closer to Christ, while becoming closer with God myself at the same time.
