East Highland Food Distribution

November 23, 2020

Our ministry is seeing incredible things happen in the East Highland Neighborhood of Columbus, Georgia. We, the Bedsoles, have launched a community-driven food drive that is a part of our Project Lifehouse initiative’s efforts in the community. The number of people coming and participating has increased every time! It’s amazing how we’re seeing dignity restored to the area as the community is coming together and serving! We are thankful and excited to announce that our food drive is now supported in part by a grant from the Coronavirus Response Fund. This is a HUGE answer to prayer and just one powerful example of what God is doing in our city! The Bedsole Family moved from Oregon to serve in our city and live in one of our missionary homes. They are excited to help partner with the neighbors in this community to encourage and empower them to see redemption and restoration in their area. If you would like to get involved with Project Lifehouse, call Louis Chalmers at...

Thankful for LifeHouse Volunteers and Partners

During this season for Thanksgiving, we give thanks to the Lord for the many volunteers, donors, and ministry partners that have contributed energy, time, sweat, and resources to complete our Lifehouses on Bradley Circle (Bibb City), Young Avenue, and 26th Street (East Highlands). The past 3+ years, we have had 4 urban missionary families who have been able to live, serve, and share the love, joy, and peace of life found in Jesus Christ. God willing in 2021 we plan to complete renovations of our Garden Dr. Lifehouse, recruit another urban missionary family, and identify additional houses in communities that we serve during our monthly outreaches. We are prayerfully asking that you and your church family considers becoming LifeHouse partners with us in 2021. You can help by volunteering for a workday and ministry outreach at one of our Lifehouses or by adopting a LifeHouse renovation project and donating funds, materials, and labor to complete it.  Listed below are renovation projects for our Garden Dr. you can adopt: Carpentry repairs roof and doors                                             $ 5,000 Plumbing Kitchen, Bath, and Laundry rooms                            5,000 Install HVAC system                                                                        5,900 Purchase Light fixtures                       ...

Bradley Circle Community Christmas Party

January 31, 2020

How do you and your family like to celebrate the Birth of our Savior Jesus Christ? Meals, Christmas carols, presents, and a sharing of the story of the coming of the Christ child? Andrew and Ellen Chalmers, our Lifehouse missionaries, along with Pastor Chuck Hasty and their Grace Presbyterian church community partners put on an old fashioned Christmas celebration to be remembered! They began by canvassing their community to pass out personal and written invitations to join their party on December 23. Prior to the party, Ellen and Andrew hosted the Bradley Circle children for a coloring contest to prepare decorations for the party and bake some of Ellen’s amazing cookies. Grace Presbyterian joined with RiverTown Church to buy presents for the community. The Bradley Circle LifeHouse was filled with 30+ of the community plus a large group from Grace Presbyterian in an evening of good food, fellowship, and present opening. Pastor Chuck then shared a Christmas devotional with the group and invited all to join in a community caroling outing to end this celebration of the birth of our Savior.  The evening concluded with caroling from house to house in the Bradley Circle community bringing glad tidings of the coming of God’s peace and goodwill to all mankind at the Birth of Jesus Christ- Emmanuel, God with us and for us! Reminds this writer of an old fashion Walton Christmas celebration… You can experience the joy of this community LifeHouse celebration by watching the video below: Louis A. Chalmers, Jr, LifeHouse Director...

United In Prayer

September 27, 2018

What is United in Prayer? United in Prayer is an initiative of Take the City which unifies local believers for worship and intercession to prepare the way for lives to be transformed by the love and power of Jesus. What does the Church need today? “What the Church needs to-day is not more machinery or better, not new organizations or more and novel methods, but men whom the Holy Ghost can use — men of prayer, men mighty in prayer. The Holy Ghost does not flow through methods, but through men. He does not come on machinery, but on men. He does not anoint plans, but men — men of prayer.” ― E.M. Bounds, Power Through...

Even with only 2 Take the City Outreaches under my belt, they have made such an impact in my own personal journey of faith, and others I have crossed paths with! The most special part to me is knowing that even if I meet someone and I never see them again, I know God has allowed me to touch their heart and plant a seed that I couldn’t have done sitting at home. I’m so thankful for this organization because it truly has allowed me to connect with others, with the goal of bringing them closer to Christ, while becoming closer with God myself at the same time.
