Thoughts from the Prayer Room – “The Wildest Worshipers in Heaven are Actually Old Folks?”

February 26, 2021

“COOL IT” There is a story I’ve become familiar with in my last ten years of being a Christian. It goes something like this— Young person is lost in sin.  Congregation prays for said young person to receive salvation.  God answers prayer—young person receives salvation and is delivered from sin.  Congregation praises God; they are overcome with joy.  Young person becomes a passionate worshiper of Jesus and challenges the status quo. Congregation warns young person to balance their “zeal with wisdom.”  On one hand, the congregation has a point. I actually strongly agree that it is right for young believers to seek wisdom from the word of God and from stronger believers in the faith. On the other hand… I cringe at the idea that acquiring wisdom equates with losing zeal for Jesus. Not only is it unnecessary, but I believe it’s actually unbiblical in many ways. I’ll explain, but first let me share a story. A WEIGHTIER EXAMPLE When I came into the faith I was a young man who’d just come out of a lifestyle of drug addiction. I was a zealous drug user so it only made sense to me that I’d be just as zealous for Jesus. Even without this logic, Jesus was simply too amazing to me to “let my fire cool down.” My first year in the faith was spent in a faith-based recovery program and I was known as the guy who sang too loud, lifted his hands too high, and went to the altar too much. I think I annoyed a lot of my peers, but I honestly didn’t care much....

Evangelism Bootcamp – 8 Weeks

Discovering the JOY

8 Session Evangelism Boot-camp

We want to journey with you in discovering the JOY in representing God’s love and goodness in everyday situations.

This eight week course is designed to help everyone who is a follower of Jesus Christ learn how to more effectively represent Him in everyday life. This Boot-Camp is not designed just for the “spiritually elite” but rather everyday people who long to be used by God at their schools, workplaces, homes and surrounding community. The primary goal of this Boot-Camp is to help de-mystify evangelism for believers who may feel scared of sharing their faith.

This Boot-camp is eight sessions long and can be done either during a weekend or over an eight week period.
