Redeem – W.A.R. Weekend – Worship And Reformation

November 5, 2019

This month we hosted our FIRST EVER W.A.R. Weekend in Opelika, Alabama. W.A.R. Weekend’s consist of continuous prayer, worship and outreach at a hotel that our teams have found to be rampant with trafficking and prostitution. We believe that the issue of human trafficking will be eradicated as the Gospel goes forth in every city, and the body of Christ is equipped to reach men and women in their very own city. Our team saw many lives impacted, saved and touched by the love of Jesus! The following is one special encounter. One of our leaders in Opelika had been ministering to a lady she reached through their online outreaches. Lo and behold, the woman was staying in the room RIGHT ABOVE US while we were worshiping and interceding over the hotel!!! She texted our leader asking if she could join us. The leader of course said yes! When she joined them, there was a precious moment where she was able to encounter the presence of the Lord and His pursuit on her heart. She was able to do this in the very place she has been surviving by performing services for men. Wow! What beauty! Jesus longs to meet us where we are! We don’t have to clean up for Him. We simply need to come to Him and that is what this woman did. Jesus is so in love with these women and desires for them to know how worthy and valued they are. We are still in contact with many of the women we encountered and hope to see them discipled and brought into our loving...

Having a Heavenly Perspective

June 5, 2017

Today there is a constant battle for your mind and heart. New Channels, ad agencies, social agencies, various causes, movements, political parties are all fighting for to have you come into agreement with their perspective. They want you to see their perspective of various social issues, causes and world views. At the very same time God is also calling you to come into agreement with His perspective. He wants you to have a heavenly lens by which you see the world around you. We have a choice each day. Whose perspective will we come into agreement with? Since you became alive again, so to speak, when Christ arose from the dead, now set your sights on the rich treasures and joys of heaven where he sits beside God in the place of honor and power. Let heaven fill your thoughts; don’t spend your time worrying about things down here. You should have as little desire for this world as a dead person does. Your real life is in heaven with Christ and God. And when Christ who is our real life comes back again, you will shine with him and share in all his glories. Colossians 3:1-4 TLB The model for living that has been given to us through the scriptures is to live with a heavenly perspective or lens. We are not to trust in our own understanding (Proverbs 3:5-6) of the world around us but to have heaven’s perspective. We are to live from heaven to earth in all that we do. God wants for heaven to fill our thoughts and for those types of thoughts be the...

God is Raising up an Army

June 13, 2016

These past few months God has been moving mightily during our meetings and as we’ve reached out to our local community.  It’s been exciting to see how God is raising up a company of Christ followers to share the good news of God’s love and reconciliation with our area. This past month, we were fortunate to have one of our team members, Yvette Turner, donate several boxes full of food to pass out during Take the City. These boxes gave us just enough food to fill a total of 96 bags with each bag able to feed a family of four. As we gathered together, 108 people were present from 17 different churches from a wide variety of denominations. We sent out 10 teams to various neighborhoods, trailer parks and housing authority developments. Each team was equipped with bags of food to pass out to those in need and to pray with those who need prayer. Of the +200 people prayed for, 18 people received physical and spiritual healing and 2 people received Christ as their Lord and Savior. Truly, God is moving amongst us, yet we are just beginning to scratch the surface of how powerful it is when we come together with one mind and one heart as the body of Christ. Our ministries’ hope is to continue operating as a unifying agent here in this area. Our hope is that we might make every effort in keeping the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace for the local church of Columbus Georgia and Phenix City (Eph. 4:3). May God continue to give us the Spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him as we press on towards the high calling in...

Donna

My first encounter with Take the City was going to Wilson Apartments in Columbus GA. We were met by a man from that neighborhood who prayed with us before we began the outreach. We set up an area for the kids to play and others went door to door witnessing and praying for people. It truly was a humbling experience. Another time I got to pray at an abortion clinic which was another humbling experience. The worship services the night before are always dynamic and spirit led. However I will conclude with the best part for me was being an eight week participant of Take the City boot camp. All of the leaders were simply AWESOME and I learned so much during those eight weeks. I thank God for all these wonderful opportunities!
