Local Outreach – Answered Prayer

February 1, 2020

Saturday January 18, we split up into teams and went to different neighborhoods to preach the Gospel and share Christ’s love. Over the past few months, one of our outreach leaders, Dasi, has felt led to take a team and go to her own neighborhood in the Staffordshire subdivision and share the Gospel. When she went this past time, God answered a woman’s prayer. Dasi and a new friend ventured to her neighborhood. After they parked at her house, they prayed and asked the Lord where they should go. They began walking and simultaneously were drawn to a house nearby. Dasi and her friend knocked on the door and what happened next was God and God alone. The woman yelled, “Come in!” To her surprise, Dasi found the door to be unlocked and slowly opened it. They walked down the center hallway and found the woman in the kitchen. The woman had been praying all night and had asked God to give her a sign that He was there and cared about her. Dasi and her friend introduced themselves and explained that they were there to pray for her. The woman grasped Dasi’s friend’s hand and responded through tears, “I know Jesus loves me, because God sent you both here to me today.” The three women sat and exchanged stories. The Lord’s power began to fill the room as they prayed for each other. The women connected and let go; they wept together and rejoiced as the Lord moved in their hearts. The Lord ministered to each woman with specific words of encouragement, and for the lady of the...

Prayer Saved My Life

November 5, 2019

NLT: Psalm 50:15 Then call on me when you are in trouble, and I will rescue you, and you will give me glory.  Prayer Saved my Life As a seven year old girl growing up in rural northern New Jersey, I didn’t go to church but knew there was a God. Somehow, I just knew it.  I don’t know how I knew, I just knew. Then of course there was the baby Jesus, that I heard about at Christmas. To me, Jesus was still that baby in the manager.  I would talk to God about all sorts of things. I didn’t understand it all with no one to teach me, but I always felt there was more. This is my testimony of how prayer saved my life. The summers were a great time to break away and head to the shore. The shore is like the beach, but where I come from we call it the shore. We packed it all up for a day trip to the Jersey Shore. What a beautiful day it was! Sun shining brightly, seagulls flying quite low hoping to catch a morsel of food dropped in the white hot sands of Asbury Park. As we settled in, I found my big red sand bucket.  So here I go, I was ready. Ready to discover the best shell ever!  As I continued exploring for treasures to collect, I wandered, enjoying the warmth of the sunshine on my back and the summer breeze that was just enough to make this day perfect. I recall feeling so happy and content as the water came back to wash...

You Never Know… – A story of seeing past the plastic smile

January 20, 2017

One thing I love about growing up in the southeastern part of the USA is that so many people are warm and welcoming. There is something really amazing about southern charm and hospitality. Southern hospitality has the ability to make you feel like you’re friends with the cashier, the cab driver and even the person you politely hold the door open for as they walk into their doctors appointment. In the midst of such hospitality there is also a dark reality that you never know what someone is really going through. Even behind the biggest smiles, the nicest compliments and the warmest welcoming there can be some of the most deep pain. I’d like to share a story… This is a story about how true this can be and how I believe God wants us to respond. Today I had to rush to a meeting and I just barely made it on time. When I arrived a woman welcomed me at the receptionist desk and offered to help me by calling the person I was supposed to meet with. She was warm, welcoming and even had the brightest smile. To the surprise of both of us when she called into that persons office we found that the person I was meeting with was not even there at the office. I realized in that moment I should have probably texted that person I was meeting with an hour before just to make sure nothing had come up! After we realized that it was obvious the meeting I had arrived for was simply not going to happen I felt the Lord urge me...
