United In Prayer

April 19, 2019

What is United in Prayer? United in Prayer is an initiative of Take the City which unifies local believers for worship and intercession to prepare the way for lives to be transformed by the love and power of Jesus. What does the Church need today? “What the Church needs to-day is not more machinery or better, not new organizations or more and novel methods, but men whom the Holy Ghost can use — men of prayer, men mighty in prayer. The Holy Ghost does not flow through methods, but through men. He does not come on machinery, but on men. He does not anoint plans, but men — men of prayer.” ― E.M. Bounds, Power Through...

We’re doing a Christmas Toy Drive!!!

December 5, 2017

Can you believe it? It’s the end of 2017 already and Christmas is just around the corner. This month we are partnering with “Zelmo’s Zip In Gas Station” to receive Toys for children and families in need. Last year, one of our team members was able to truly bless a family in need. Come to find out this family wasn’t planning on getting their children anything for Christmas due to lack of finances. Then surprisingly they both received a bonus from their jobs. They ended up buying presents and storing them in their car overnight. They woke up the next day to find out their car had been broken into and the presents had been stolen. The team was so compelled they went to the store to buy a kart full of presents for this family. While at the store, a women came up to the team and said God told her to buy everything in their kart. The whole team was ecstatic at how God showed up at the store. After the team wrapped all the gifts, they showed up at the families house to surprise them. The parents cried as the kids unwrapped their gifts. The whole family was so blessed by what God did. The impact was powerful that even today our ministry is in contact with them. Every year we get the wonderful opportunity to surprise and bless families all across the Chattahoochee Valley Area. We want to invite you to come be apart of what God is doing. Below are few ways you can help. How can you help? 1. Donate a Toy –...

The Pressure is Off: Just Be You and Let Jesus Do the Rest

September 12, 2017

I recently went with Take the City to Madison, Indiana to put on an evangelism training conference. We have been able to travel to several cities over the past year, and God has shown up powerfully as we’ve seen the churches and communities begin to unite and go out to share the love of God.   Just as He had done on every other trip we have been on with Take the City, my expectations were high that Jesus would show up. This time, however, I felt pressure to make a difference for Jesus. We had spent the weekend equipping the community for outreach. I thought to myself, “Would my words hold the same weight if I didn’t produce what I preached?” Jesus says in John 15:8,  “When you bear much fruit, you prove you are my disciples…” I took a moment to honestly pray before we headed out to the streets, “I really feel the pressure to bear some fruit right now, Jesus, to perform the works that prove that I am your disciple. I pray that good things would happen today, that someone’s life might be impacted for the better because I stepped out in faith.”   I heard the whisper of the Holy Spirit, “Let me take that pressure off of you. You don’t have to do anything. Let me fill you with my love.”   The true meaning of John 15 means the pressure is off. It means that as we abide in God’s love, we naturally produce good works. Our fruit is a byproduct of our time spent with Jesus, letting him be the Gardener and...

Donna

My first encounter with Take the City was going to Wilson Apartments in Columbus GA. We were met by a man from that neighborhood who prayed with us before we began the outreach. We set up an area for the kids to play and others went door to door witnessing and praying for people. It truly was a humbling experience. Another time I got to pray at an abortion clinic which was another humbling experience. The worship services the night before are always dynamic and spirit led. However I will conclude with the best part for me was being an eight week participant of Take the City boot camp. All of the leaders were simply AWESOME and I learned so much during those eight weeks. I thank God for all these wonderful opportunities!
