We are inviting you to come join us for an unforgettable weekend as people from all over the area are gathering together to see our city forever changed! Friday night we will have a powerful time of worship and prayer. Saturday we will gather together for a time of training and then we will send out teams all over the area to share the love of Christ! Sandra Overly’s Personal Story of Hope and Redemption

July 13, 2017

When I was young, I was very shy, withdrawn, and had low self-esteem. This made me an easy target. At the age of 11, I was molested by one of my Mother’s friends. I was ashamed. I became more withdrawn and held it all inside. Time passed…My early adulthood brought a series of destructive relationships. At the age of 26, I fell prey to the world of prostitution by a man I trusted. I couldn’t believe my life had come to this. It was a very dark time in my life. Ashamed, beaten down…at my lowest…I cried out to God, and He rescued me through the love of my Mother.   After some time went by, God placed a call on my life to reach out to those who are being exploited. I became a sponge, soaking in all I could from other organizations that are focused on reaching out, rescuing, and restoring these precious daughters of God.   I have been in the Human Trafficking arena now for about 4 years. I have had the awesome opportunity to help rescue a young lady in Columbus, Georgia who had been trafficked from Dallas, Texas. Hers is a story of God’s redemptive love and divine plan.   Being a part of the leadership team of Redeem has afforded me numerous opportunities to reach out and build relationship with God’s broken daughters. To venture into new dimensions of God’s loving grace and redemptive power. With rose in hand, in His loving power, one beautiful daughter at a time, we will eradicate this sex trafficking dilemma. —Sandy Overly Sandra Overly has been...

The Love of the Father in Times of Need

May 25, 2017

This past weekend, I was sitting in an evangelism training for Take the City. I was struggling, physically; I had little to no energy but I was trying to push through it and engage with the session. In a matter of seconds, I made eye contact with my director, Andrew Chalmers. He looked into my eyes, winked, and then resumed his focus on the speaker. In my moment of weakness, I needed to feel seen, known, and reassured that someone was there for me. In a split second, Andrew showed me that he saw me and knew me. The kindness in his eyes told me that; the wink provided the feeling of safety and covering. I needed a father in that moment, someone to lift me up, to say: I’ve got you and I love you and everything is going to be alright. Andrew met me half way with the care of a father. He let me know that I mattered and that when he looked at me, he didn’t see someone who was weak but someone who was loved, appreciated, and cared for, someone who was strong. Ephesians 6:10-11 tells us:”Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.” Sometimes being strong in the Lord means allowing others in, allowing others to reach into the depths of our soul and love us with the Father’s love: love that is pure, holy, and tender. Love that says “I see you. I know you. And nothing and no one will ever...

Madison Take the City Equipping Weekend

May 19, 2017

One of our greatest passions at Take the City is to help empower and equip people to be mobilized into their schools, workplaces and cities to share the gospel. Our ministry, which is based in Columbus, GA, travels from city to city working with churches from various denominations to encourage and send out believers to share their faith in their local context. Our mission is to see the Body of Christ unified and mobilized to see entire cities transformed and revitalized. We are excited to host this Take the City Equipping Conference in Madison Indiana. We offer a 6 session equipping weekend where we journey with people from various churches in discovering what a joy it is to represent Jesus in our everyday life! We often see many people who have never shared their faith become activated and excited about leading others to Christ. This six session conference is designed to help everyone who is a follower of Jesus Christ learn how to more effectively represent Him in everyday life. This training is not designed just for the “spiritually elite” but rather for everyday people who long to be used by God at their schools, workplaces, homes and surrounding community. Basically, the primary goal of this training is to help de-mystify evangelism for believers who may feel scared of sharing their faith. Click here to get...

Sarah

My experience with the Take the City crew was like coming into a family.  Our team was welcomed in with open arms with like-hearted believers who love Jesus and have laid down their lives to serve the broken of the city! It was an honor to come alongside them, be welcomed into their homes, share meals, and experience the transformational work that God is doing in and through them to see His Kingdom come.
