God is Raising up an Army

June 13, 2016

These past few months God has been moving mightily during our meetings and as we’ve reached out to our local community.  It’s been exciting to see how God is raising up a company of Christ followers to share the good news of God’s love and reconciliation with our area. This past month, we were fortunate to have one of our team members, Yvette Turner, donate several boxes full of food to pass out during Take the City. These boxes gave us just enough food to fill a total of 96 bags with each bag able to feed a family of four. As we gathered together, 108 people were present from 17 different churches from a wide variety of denominations. We sent out 10 teams to various neighborhoods, trailer parks and housing authority developments. Of the +200 people prayed for, 18 people received physical and spiritual healing and 2 people received Christ as their Lord and Savior. I believe that the Kingdom of God is truly advancing in our area and that God is doing a great thing here through His Church. As more and more churches and organizations are connecting and working together I see that the Church is only getting more strong and effective in reaching our city that desperately needs the HOPE that can only be found in Jesus Christ. One exciting thing I noticed this past outreach event was how diverse the Church is in our area and how much of a blessing the diversity is. I noticed this when one of our outreach teams returned overflowing with joy and excitement because of all they had seen God do. The thing I noticed was that the team was made up of a middle-aged white brother, middle aged black sister, two young Hispanic brothers and a young black brother. I sat and thought about it and realized that they were all from different churches and cultures but they had all been able to come together and agree that the Gospel of Jesus Christ is worth sharing to our city. God is bringing people together from various races and denominations in our city in ways like never before! I wish I had more time each month to simply write down and record the testimonies of all the amazing things we have been seeing!...
