Redeem – Rain or Shine We are Serving

July 27, 2021

Redeem - Rain or Shine We are Serving Deuteronomy 28:12 ESV says The Lord will open to you his good treasury, the heavens, to give the rain to your land in its season and to bless all the work of your hands. And you shall lend to many nations, but you shall not borrow. “Let’s go”, those were the words boldly said during prayer and worship on a rainy stormy Friday night from the street outreach team. We are called — rain or shine, good or bad situations– to show the love of Christ. That Friday night on outreach, it poured and poured. It seemed to only let up enough for us to drive to the next stop and see the street signs. Nine bold Christian soldiers of God’s army laid hands on women who lived in abusive situations and used drugs daily. Men ministered to those who sold drugs and declared God’s freedom. As the rain drenched our clothing, we all joined in prayer and declared the love of Christ to flood the streets of the block used by the enemy. That Friday night changed my life. I felt the love of Christ in a much more intimate level. If God would send his loving hands and feet in the storm to reach those hurting and hiding behind drugs and sex, how many times had he reached out for you and me? I am reminded by the hymn, “oh how I love Jesus, oh how I love Jesus because he first loved me”.  Jesus’ love doesn’t stop when the storms come. Jesus comes close to the brokenhearted and...

Redeem – A Family Met with the Love of Christ

June 23, 2021

Redeem - A Family Met with the Love of Christ In May, on one of the outreach nights, our Redeem team met a family of 6 living in a hotel. A young couple, who had lost their job, income and now a stable home, was forced to go from hotel to hotel with 4 young boys. Our team had the opportunity to dance and laugh with them and pray for and over the elementary and toddler aged boys. The oldest son expressed that he wanted to preach about Jesus, and we joyfully joined in prayer to declare this over his life. The young mom expressed that she wanted prayer for a house; she had been on several waiting lists for months. The eldest son yelled “Thank you Jesus” as we presented his mom and his siblings with roses that night for prayer. Their step-dad sat quietly on the steps, and later expressed his feelings of helplessness for his family. After this acknowledgement, we prayed again for him and his family and after several hugs, we parted ways. In June, during our outreach at another hotel we saw 4 boys playing outside. Our eyes lit up with joy. We heard “Thank you Jesus.” The young lady from the hotel in May had gotten a room for a few nights at this hotel, because it was safer for her boys. The family saw our volunteers, and the boys ran over to give our team a big hug. The family of 4 shared with us that since our last meeting, the boys had received all A’s and finished the school year strong in spite...

Redeem – Our Team is Growing

May 28, 2021

Redeem - Our Team is Growing Redeem has been consistently going out on Fridays to pour the love of Jesus to many women, children and families. On one particular night, God had a different plan. While two of our team members were walking by a hotel door, they heard a beautiful voice singing unto the Lord. They knocked and waited patiently to meet the person behind the voice. He answered with open arms. The young man said he had been living in the hotel after losing employment and being unfairly treated while teaching music. Ellen and a few others gave him a rose and shared God’s love with him. Ellen led him into a forgiveness prayer that helped him forgive those that had hurt him. The presence of the Lord fell upon him as he forgave being hurt, manipulated and deceived throughout his music career. He was blessed by the time our team took to pray with him and help him see how forgiveness was holding him hostage.  Our Redeem team would like to be able to lead more to forgiveness and knowing the love of God. We need your help. You can join Jaketra each Thursday at the house of prayer for intercession at 7am. Another way to get involved is to join her on Friday night street outreach. If you are interested, please contact her at Redeem@take-the-city.com. -Jaketra Bryant, Redeem Outreach...

Local Outreach – Chattahoochee Valley

Local Outreach - Chattahoochee Valley     On Saturday, May 22nd, 13 churches from the local body of Christ came together to take the city for Jesus and share the Gospel all across our area.  Five teams took to the streets, while one team stayed back to pray for the others. One young man made the decision to follow Jesus, 90 people were prayed for, and many more people were touched with the love of Jesus. Of the people prayed for, God divinely intervened in the life of a young lady. One of our teams met her near the Elizabeth Canty apartments. They introduced themselves and asked her if they could pray for her. She said yes, and as our team prayed, something shifted for her. When the team finished praying, the woman admitted that she had a knife in her possession. She was about to use it, but since she received prayer, she decided against it. We serve such an amazing God! He desires to use us as His hands, feet, and mouth to pour out His love to others.  We dream of dozens of teams spreading across our region each month sharing the Gospel and ministering to people. Our friends and neighbors desperately need to be touched by the love of God, and we are just the ones to do it! We long for the undeniable presence of God to be felt in every neighborhood across our city. Come and join us next month June 17 as we witness the power of the Gospel everywhere we go. If you would like to get involved, please reach out...

Local Outreach – There’s No Time Like the Present

April 30, 2021

On Saturday April 17th, believers from 10 different churches in the Chattahoochee Valley area gathered at Take the City. We spent a short time in prayer and worship, received training, and then split up into 7 groups to go out and share the Gospel with our friends and neighbors. Of those who went out, there were 4 people who bravely stepped out for the first time. All came back encouraged! One of the 4 was Cindy, who oversees our Women’s Clothing Closet. The Lord rescued Cindy out of trafficking in Columbus through our Redeem ministry. She had been hesitant to go out on outreach, because she did not want to be triggered and drawn back into the life she once knew. Resolved to wait on the Lord, she waited patiently for the green light from the Holy Spirit. Saturday morning came and she felt like the Lord said, “Go.” Shocked a little by this word, Cindy turned to her husband and said, “I think the Lord is saying, ‘Go to outreach this morning.'” He was a little taken aback as well; he knew how long Cindy had been praying for this. They talked it over and decided that she should go. Cindy said yes to the call of God, and He made sure she was safe and sound. By His grace, the Lord miraculously paired Cindy with George and Monica Pfannschmidt, the couple she had shared dinner with prior to heading to a program a few years prior. Their team ministered in a neighborhood where Cindy had been held against her will. By the power and overflow of Jesus,...

TAKE THE CITY outreaches have been so special to me. I love being able to see the hand of GOD move in peoples lives as they are healed and families restored. GOD cares about every detail of our lives and he reaches the places that only HE can only heal! Its been an honor to see all the teams go out and share the LOVE that GOD has instilled and filled the teams with, and let it pour out to all the community. Having physical needs met also assures all we encounter, the faithfulness of our Father. So many times I have cried seeing what GOD is doing… Being able to see people brought into the KINGDOM and freedom Spirit, Soul, Mind and Body. Is the greatest treasure in my life. I am grateful for TAKE THE CITY allowing me to have front seat and seeing GOD move in peoples lives!
