Why do they call Jesus the prophet?

May 19, 2020

In John 6:14 it says, “After the people saw the sign Jesus performed, they began to say, “Surely this is the Prophet who is to come into the world.”” Why do they refer to Jesus as “the Prophet?” Have you ever wondered why they called Jesus “the Prophet” in this passage of the bible or in others? Several places in the scriptures we see that when people met Jesus and saw him perform miracles, they referred to him as the Prophet. What we will discover in this video teaching is that there is a difference between people calling Jesus “a prophet” and “the prophet”. The difference is that when people were calling him “The Prophet” they were pointing to a person that the people of Israel had long been waiting for whom was predicted by Moses himself. “The Lord your God will raise up for you a prophet like me from among you, from your brothers—it is to him you shall listen—” (Deuteronomy 18:15) Long before Jesus, there was a prediction given by Moses that there would one day come another prophet that would be like himself. Midland – Take the City Equipping Weekend

One of our greatest passions at Take the City is to help empower and equip people to be mobilized into their schools, workplaces, and cities to share the gospel. Our ministry, which is based in Columbus, GA, travels from city to city working with churches from various denominations to encourage and send out believers to share their faith in their local context. Our mission is to see the Body of Christ unified and mobilized to see entire cities transformed and revitalized.

Our team came in 2017 and we are excited to host this Take the City Equipping Conference in Midland, TX this May for our second time. Last year we had 100+ people who participated in our training and outreaches who were from various churches around the area. We believe that this year we’re going to equip even more people and impact even more lives with the Gospel.

This six-session conference is designed to help everyone who is a follower of Jesus Christ learn how to more effectively represent Him in everyday life. This training is not designed just for the “spiritually elite” but rather for everyday people who long to be used by God at their schools, workplaces, homes and surrounding community. Basically, the primary goal of this training is to help de-mystify evangelism for believers who may feel scared of sharing their faith.
