Local Outreach – What a “Dog-Gone” Morning

September 30, 2021

Local Outreach - What a "Dog-Gone" Morning What a “dog-gone” morning I have had. Let me explain.  I woke up this morning and left the house as I usually do. I took our daughter to school and then headed to work. Along the way, I receive a text from my next door neighbor informing me that our two beloved dogs have gotten out of our fenced backyard and are now in the backyard of a neighbor down the street.    I’m suddenly and unexpectedly faced with the responsibility of calling a total stranger whose morning has been invaded by two wandering dogs. If you know me, you know I don’t like to talk on the phone very much, even to people I know well. I far less enjoy this newly realized must-do task of calling a perfect stranger who has been inconvenienced by me in the wee hours of their morning routine.    I anxiously and embarrassedly make the call. When my neighbor answers, I immediately begin apologizing for the inconvenience. My new neighbor is more than accommodating even suggesting I could come get them from her later in the day if I need to. This eases my anxiety and allows me to relax my thoughts of how upset I am that my dogs have gotten loose.   I arrive at the neighbor’s house and call to let her know I’ve arrived. As we exchange the dogs, we engage in small talk and introduce ourselves. As I drove away I was reminded of the fact that I had been actively praying for opportunities and seeking to know and love my neighbors the way Jesus has commanded us...

Redeem – Powerful Encounters

Redeem - Powerful Encounters We ran into the family I mentioned in the August newsletter again on Friday September 10th. This time the family has been approved for housing! They also reported feeling more connected to God since we last prayed and discussed more in detail who God is! The family plans to move into their own trailer next week.  Directly after seeing the family, God led us to Colonial Inn in Phenix City. I had felt a pressing to go there ever since God highlighted the women there that I passed each morning as I headed to my school. Thank God for his direction.. While we were there, over 10 people confessed Jesus as Savior and received salvation! As we delivered chips and roses to them and asked if we could pray for them, we watched as young men put out cigarettes, set down full cans of beer, and one even laid down a knife.  Not only was that amazing but as we walked around, a hotel guest stopped us and brought us other family members to pray over them. One family member was a 7 year old kid (as seen above) who we prayed for safety. As one of our volunteers closed out, the young boy turned back and said “bye God.” He knew he had encountered something different with our visit and prayer.  On our last Friday outreach in August, we encountered a teenage girl in recovery from meth. At the time, the teen did not make eye contact; we followed steps to ensure her safety. This last month, we ran into her again at another...

Local Outreach – The Body of Christ

August 31, 2021

Local Outreach - The Body of Christ Caribbean Missions Trip I remember being on a mission trip in the Caribbean once and being allowed to minister in a youth detention center. My friend, Dave, was on the trip with us and was speaking to the young men. I was watching him as he fluently and poetically communicated his message of hope to these young men. It was truly a beautiful moment to witness. I remember wishing my presentation to these young men had been more beautifully articulated and worthy of such admiration. In that same moment, the Lord reminded me to celebrate the gifts placed into each one of us on the team. There were some team members with us who were gifted to sing and play instruments. There were some who were gifted to teach. Others were gifted to give words of wisdom and to prophecy. Celebrate Each Other’s Gifts  As I began to celebrate these gifts represented in our group, I remember experiencing a sense of freedom. A freedom to simply be me and to use my gifts as best I can to give God the greatest glory and to rejoice that God had given us team members to do the other parts. I was not required to do every thing, just my thing. The Lord gives each of us our very own gifts to use to reach others and to glorify God. We each have exactly what we need to accomplish exactly what He has purposed for us. Our individual gifts were never meant to compete with the gifts of others, they were meant to complement...

Redeem – When God meets you everywhere you go…

August 27, 2021

Redeem - When God meets you everywhere you go... Psalms 139:7-10 reads Where can I go from your spirit? Where can I flee from your presence? If I go up to the heavens, you are there; if I make my bed in the depths, you are there. If I rise on the wings of the dawn, if I settle on the far side of the sea, even there your hand will guide me, your right hand will hold me fast. On two separate street outreach nights, the Lord has led our team to a small yet hungry family. This family didn’t lack food but was hungry for the truth, the truth that could only be found at the feet of Jesus.  Hungry for Truth As our team approached Motel 6 on our second outreach night of the month, we were met with celebration. The young father stood in amazement as he said, “I can’t believe I am seeing you all twice. I was just asking the Lord for a sign that he is real and I see you all again.” The young mother of baby O, 10 months and full of joy, smiled and greeted the team gladly accepting her rose. The young mother mentioned that she planted the rose she received the first time in the front bushes and watched it come to life. She mentioned that it recently died, and here we were again with another one to give her! How cool is God’s timing! The family has been staying in a hotel for a month now, awaiting approval for a stable place. The father is the...

Local Outreach – Confession

July 28, 2021

Local Outreach - Confession 20 Years of Ministry In my nearly 20 years of serving the Lord in ministry I have been blessed to preach the gospel in different parts of America and even in other countries around the world. I have had personal evangelistic conversations with people I knew well and others I had just met. I have stayed mindful of verses like Mark 16:15 that gives us Jesus’ command to “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.’ Also, in Acts 1:8, Jesus says, “…and you shall be my witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth.”. We are so loved by God that He chose not only to save us but also to entrust us with His glorious gospel. He allows us to be the ones to share it with all people everywhere. What an amazing love! What a marvelous mission! Confession I do have a confession. Over the years I have made the mistake of remembering the nations but missing my neighbors. I have invested time, energy, prayer, and money to fulfill the call of God to go to “Judea, Samaria, and even the remotest parts of the earth”, but missed many opportunities to witness in “Jerusalem”. I have personally been challenged this past year to live out the command of Mark 8:31 to “love your neighbor”. I have intentionally looked to get to know my neighbors and share the love of Jesus with them. Not just neighbors who share my city but those who share my street. I no...

Stephanie

TTC led me out of darkness and into the love I’ve longed for my entire life, the love of JESUS.  They’ve taught me to love like Jesus by walking out my created purpose.  My Spirit has been healed, I am whole, because of their obedience to do God’s will.  They have introduced me to and welcomed me into a powerful tribe of women that love Jesus with their whole heart.  Women that strengthen, teach, support, and encourage one another with the power and authority given by the Holy Spirit.  I am eternally grateful for their ministry and humbled to be called family.
