Why is Jesus called Jesus Christ or the Messiah?

Have you ever wondered why Jesus from the Bible is called Jesus Christ? In this short bible study, we look at some of the reasons why Jesus is called the Christ or the messiah.     In this session, we look at some of the reasons why Jesus is called the Christ or the Messiah. All through the accounts about Jesus in the gospels, we see him referred to as the Christ. In order to truly understand why this title is important, we must look at some prophecies from the Bible. What we discover when we look through the bible is that the people of Israel had long been waiting for a promised “Messiah” or “Christ”. When Jesus was called the Christ it meant that people were claiming that he was the one they had long been waiting for! “But these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Messiah…” John 20:30-31 The word Messiah comes from a Hebrew word that means “anointed one”. This Hebrew term was used to specifically point out those that God had appointed for a specific assignment or purpose. When someone was anointed, they were set apart to fulfill God’s plan. The people of Israel knew that there were many prophecies about this coming king who would be a “messiah” or anointed one. There were many prophecies that pointed to this person that they were long expecting and in the gospels we discover that Jesus fulfills all of their expectations. Revival on the River – April 28-29, 2017

Come join us for an incredible life-changing weekend at Revival on the River 2017! For the past 4 years we have had thousands of people gather together for this incredible event. This two day event features free food, music and messages on Friday and community outreaches on Saturday. We are believing God for revival and awakening not only here in our region but also in our nation! Come join us for Revival on the River.

On Friday night we will be enjoying a night of music, fellowship, food and encouraging messages. There will be free Chick-Fil-A for the first 3,000 people that night! We are so excited to have civic leaders speaking on the subject of unity and a powerful message from other ministry leaders. We also have an amazing lineup of music artists that will be playing that night a wide variety of contemporary christian, gospel music and hymns. Whether you are involved in a local church or are just looking for a great family-friendly event this event is for you!

Revival on the River information overview:

Revival on the River – Friday Night: FREE Chick-Fil-A for the first 3,000 people on Friday night. There will be fun for the whole family and time of positive music and messages. Everyone is welcome! Gates open at 6PM EST and this will be held at the Phenix City Amphitheater in Phenix City Alabama.

Revival on the River – Saturday 1pm: This will be a HUGE community wide outreach day. We will be sending out hundreds of volunteers around the area to go and share the love of Christ with our area. This event will be held at the Columbus Trade Center in Columbus, GA. Come join us as we see our cities transformed by the power of God’s love!
