Lives Changed in Local Trailer Park

November 20, 2015

On our first outreach to Victory drive trailer parks we were able to hand out Thanksgiving meals to families in need. During our outreach, we caught a couple as they were about to leave with a friend. We told them we wanted to bless them with a packed Thanksgiving meal. The girlfriend ran over to me and said that they were just on there way to go see if churches could donate them some food for Thanksgiving! What an answered prayer! She began to share with us about her life, telling us how she recently had been radically changed by the love of Jesus. She was previously involved in drugs and a really bad relationship, but Jesus gave her a way out. She wanted to be involved in church but had no transportation, so I offered to pick her up for church Sunday.  Before we left we were able to pray a blessing and the love of Jesus over them. The next day they told me they had a radical encounter with Jesus that night after we met them, and that before we met them they were in a bad place and Take the City was an answered prayer! The Lord has continued to do even more amazing things than I could ever imagine through this couple. Take the City deeply cares for the community and it’s amazing to be apart of the seed being planted, watered, and grown in our community by doing outreach with Take the City. Vision Night 2015

Since 2013 Take the City has mobilized hundreds of people into neighborhoods where we have seen thousands of lives impacted. In 2013-14 we worked with over 75 different churches and impacted approximately 9,500 lives. We saw 221 people come to salvation in Christ in those two years and fed over 5,800 people at our various outreaches and events. We have hosted kids clubs and bible studies that have impacted children and their families in inner city neighborhoods like Wilson Apartments in Columbus. We also hosted an 8-week intensive training where we had over 50 participants from various churches learn how to lead themselves and others into a lifestyle of evangelism. God has truly done amazing things as we have witnessed the body of Christ coming together to see our cities revitalized!

As we look forward we believe that all of this is truly just the beginning of what God wants to do in our area. Our Vision is to transform our cities by serving in the areas of proclamation, compassion and justice. Imagine hundreds of churches and organizations from across the Chattahoochee Valley area coming together to love, serve and pray for their region. Imagine what could be accomplished if we built greater collaboration among civic, corporate, and church leaders spanning economic and denominational lines. Imagine the impact if we could help establish sustainable efforts unique to each neighborhood that would revitalize entire areas of our community.

Please come join us for a night to celebrate all that God has already done and to also hear about how you can partner with what God is doing through the ministry of Take the City!
