Testimonies from Harvest Day Outreach

September 27, 2023

Testimonies from Harvest Day Outreach Approaching the group somewhat nervously, the first-time volunteer wasn’t sure what to expect. She felt better right away when she learned there were others like her – six, in fact. Two of the newbies had been reached through Redeem and were now participating in an outreach! Outreach Leaders Katherine Server and Brandon McKenzie immediately put everyone at ease and the short training gave the volunteer the information – and excitement to go out – she needed. She realized her nerves had settled down and decided it was going to be a good day.*During a kids outreach to L.P. Stough Apartments in Phenix City, 7 kids gave their lives to Christ as they heard the message of Jesus.*In one of our Project Lifehouse homes, our Young Ave missionaries Johnny and Andrew encountered two new guys in their neighborhood. Johnny and Andrew are excited to grow in relationship with them.*Still another outreach ministered to a nursing home and powerful connections were made between our team and their staff. As they regrouped and testified together two hours later, volunteers shared their experience and expressed how glad they were that they had set aside a Saturday to make a difference in the communities. God is on the move! Join in October 21st @ 10am and encounter people with God’s...

Unity Inspires

November 10, 2022

Unity Inspires Elizabeth Canty Apartments  The quiet of the morning in the neighborhood was interrupted by a car creeping its way down the road, leaving the booming echo of the music in its wake. A group of five young teenagers followed its call to admire both the stereo and the car. At the same time, Tre Rager and Ben Whittaker emerge from their vehicle with several others because it’s “Harvest Day” – a Take the City monthly outreach into communities to build relationships and share the gospel. One of the group shares that Take the City’s outreaches started in this same area 10 years earlier with block parties that featured grill outs and bouncy houses.  Today, everyone is focused on a man, gun tucked into his belt, and his daughter who were standing on the sidewalk. They had been in conversations before, so he waved and welcomed the group over. Since their last meeting, the man had gotten married and shared that they were doing more things together as a family than ever before. He was glad to see them today, he said, because they were getting ready to move. Ben and the rest of the TTC group pray a powerful prayer over him before they part ways. The leader within the community, who had been touched by the Lord a few years earlier, has learned how to lead a Bible study for the people to be equipped. “You have vision for your family and now you’re being strong for other families too,” Tre told him, offering to help in any way he could and encouraging him in his prayer...

Local Outreach – Confession

July 28, 2021

Local Outreach - Confession 20 Years of Ministry In my nearly 20 years of serving the Lord in ministry I have been blessed to preach the gospel in different parts of America and even in other countries around the world. I have had personal evangelistic conversations with people I knew well and others I had just met. I have stayed mindful of verses like Mark 16:15 that gives us Jesus’ command to “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.’ Also, in Acts 1:8, Jesus says, “…and you shall be my witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth.”. We are so loved by God that He chose not only to save us but also to entrust us with His glorious gospel. He allows us to be the ones to share it with all people everywhere. What an amazing love! What a marvelous mission! Confession I do have a confession. Over the years I have made the mistake of remembering the nations but missing my neighbors. I have invested time, energy, prayer, and money to fulfill the call of God to go to “Judea, Samaria, and even the remotest parts of the earth”, but missed many opportunities to witness in “Jerusalem”. I have personally been challenged this past year to live out the command of Mark 8:31 to “love your neighbor”. I have intentionally looked to get to know my neighbors and share the love of Jesus with them. Not just neighbors who share my city but those who share my street. I no...

United in Prayer

June 26, 2019

What is United in Prayer? United in Prayer is an initiative of Take the City which unifies local believers for worship and intercession to prepare the way for lives to be transformed by the love and power of Jesus. Come join us as we intercede for the Chattahoochee Valley! What does the Church need today? “What the Church needs to-day is not more machinery or better, not new organizations or more and novel methods, but men whom the Holy Ghost can use — men of prayer, men mighty in prayer. The Holy Ghost does not flow through methods, but through men. He does not come on machinery, but on men. He does not anoint plans, but men — men of prayer.” ― E.M. Bounds, Power Through...

Harvest Night

Did you know every third Thursday of the month believers from all over the Valley area are gathering to worship Jesus and to pray over their communities together? One of our core values here at Take the City concerns unifying churches from all different denominations and cultural backgrounds. For us it is one of our greatest joys and privileges to use the prayer room, Harvest House of Prayer, for this very purpose.

We invite you to come join us and see what God is doing on these Harvest Nights! These nights of worship combined with our Saturday outreaches create a powerful equipping force in the lives of believers, as we learn what it means to worship, pray, evangelize, and make disciples who make disciples in our city and beyond. So come on out, get involved, meet like-minded believers, and let’s worship the Lord together!
