What is God Like? Does God Discipline?

February 9, 2021

WHO IS GOD? Many people often wonder what God is like. Have you ever asked the question of what God is like? In this video we talk about an important attribute of God’s character that we find in the Bible. This session specifically helps to answer the question, Does God discipline us? Many people have varying views and ideas about what God is like. In order for us to really find out the truth of who God is and what he is really like, we must always go to our primary source, the Bible. In the bible we can find the answers to many of our questions we have about God. Does God discipline us? In this session, we explore Hebrews chapter 12 where it talks about God’s discipline in our lives. We discover in this chapter the truth that God not only disciplines us but also that His discipline in our lives is a sign of being His children. If we are not being disciplined by our heavenly father, then we are not truly His children. Punishment vs. Discipline Is there a difference between punishment and discipline? In this video we explore the difference and how important discipline is in our lives. What we discover from this is that not only do we need discipline but also that God’s discipline in our lives is a sign of God’s love for us. He loves us so much and He is so good that he’s constantly working in our lives to bring us more and more into what is best for us. God uses discipline in our lives to get...

Why is Jesus called the Son of God?

November 30, 2020

Have you ever wondered why Jesus is called the Son of God in the bible? This is a brief bible study that will help you understand a little bit more about why he is called the Son of God. What does, “Son of God” mean and why is Jesus called that? In this video Bible study, we look at John 20 where Jesus is called the Son of God. In that chapter, it is made clear that everyone who believes that Jesus is the Son of God will have life in His name. One of the scriptures that we look at is Psalm 2 where God is mentioned that God has a son. We also explore Matthew 3:17 where Jesus is baptized and God speaks from heaven and calls Jesus His “beloved Son”. The final scripture that we look at is in John 3:16: “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.” Do you have more questions about who Jesus is? Why is Jesus called the Messiah or the Christ?

May 19, 2020

Have you ever wondered why Jesus from the Bible is called Jesus Christ? In this short bible study, we look at some of the reasons why Jesus is called the Christ or the messiah. In this session, we look at some of the reasons why Jesus is called the Christ or the Messiah. All through the accounts about Jesus in the gospels, we see him referred to as the Christ. In order to truly understand why this title is important, we must look at some prophecies from the Bible. What we discover when we look through the bible is that the people of Israel had long been waiting for a promised “Messiah” or “Christ”. When Jesus was called the Christ it meant that people were claiming that he was the one they had long been waiting for! “But these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Messiah…” John 20:30-31 The word Messiah comes from a Hebrew word that means “anointed one”. This Hebrew term was used to specifically point out those that God had appointed for a specific assignment or purpose. When someone was anointed, they were set apart to fulfill God’s plan. The people of Israel knew that there were many prophecies about this coming king who would be a “messiah” or anointed one. There were many prophecies that pointed to this person that they were long expecting and in the gospels we discover that Jesus fulfills all of their expectations. We see that Jesus came as the messiah they had long been waiting for. How can we know Jesus is the Messiah? Jesus is...
