Why do they call Jesus the prophet?

In John 6:14 it says, “After the people saw the sign Jesus performed, they began to say, “Surely this is the Prophet who is to come into the world.”” Why do they refer to Jesus as “the Prophet?” Have you ever wondered why they called Jesus “the Prophet” in this passage of the bible or in others? Several places in the scriptures we see that when people met Jesus and saw him perform miracles, they referred to him as the Prophet. What we will discover in this video teaching is that there is a difference between people calling Jesus “a prophet” and “the prophet”. The difference is that when people were calling him “The Prophet” they were pointing to a person that the people of Israel had long been waiting for whom was predicted by Moses himself. “The Lord your God will raise up for you a prophet like me from among you, from your brothers—it is to him you shall listen—” (Deuteronomy 18:15) Long before Jesus, there was a prediction given by Moses that there would one day come another prophet that would be like himself. The people of Israel were all familiar with this prediction that was given by Moses and they were full of expectation that one day this predicted prophet that would be like Moses was for the people of Israel. In the same way, Moses helped to bring deliverance for the people of Israel out of the bondage of Egypt, Jesus came to bring deliverance for the people from the bondage of sin. Dumas, TX Take the City

Come join us for a life-changing weekend of worship, prayer, training and outreach! People from various churches and ministries from Dumas, TX are all gathering together to spread the love of Christ and pray for our city.

One of our greatest passions at Take the City is to help empower and equip people to be mobilized into their schools, workplaces and cities to share the gospel. Our ministry, which is based in Columbus, GA, travels from city to city working with churches from various denominations to encourage and send out believers to share their faith in their local context. Our mission is to see the Body of Christ unified and mobilized to see entire cities transformed and revitalized. We are excited to host this Take the City Equipping Conference in Dumas, TX.

We offer a 6 session equipping weekend where we journey with people from various churches in discovering what a joy it is to represent Jesus in our everyday life! We often see many people who have never shared their faith become activated and excited about leading others to Christ.

Friday March 2nd

  •  7pm-10pm – A Special night of Worship and Teaching

Saturday March 3rd

  • 10am-12pm – Training Sessions w/ Andrew Chalmers
  • 12pm-2pm – Lunch/ Outreach
  • 2:30pm – 4:30pm – Training Sessions with Take the City
  • 4:30pm – 7pm – Dinner Break/ Outreach
  • 7pm – Evening Session  (Worship and Testimonies from weekend)

This six session conference is designed to help everyone who is a follower of Jesus Christ learn how to more effectively represent Him in everyday life. This training is not designed just for the “spiritually elite” but rather for everyday people who long to be used by God at their schools, workplaces, homes and surrounding community. Basically, the primary goal of this training is to help de-mystify evangelism for believers who may feel scared of sharing their faith.
