We’re pleased to announce our newest Lifehouse ministry partners with the Bedsole family in East Highlands, The Verge Church. Pastor Chuck and his church family have agreed to participate in a monthly community outreach to walk through the community picking up trash, meeting the neighbors, praying with them and asking how they can further minister to their neighbors.
This past Saturday, they picked up 13 bags of trash and visited with several new families. The plan is to continue these monthly outreaches walking through the neighborhood, picking up trash, meeting the neighbors, sharing God’s love and asking how we can be their neighbors.
Steve Bedsole has been meeting his neighbors over the past year and asking how he can pray with and minister to them. Steve has been reading the Bible with Donnie, one of his neighbors 1-2 times per week and offering to take him grocery shopping at the local Piggly Wiggly. Last week Donnie asked if he could go to church with them. Donnie came to the office on Monday to enjoy a cup of hot chocolate at our new coffee house and visit our house of prayer mid day. I enjoyed meeting Donnie and appreciated his enthusiasm for his friendship with Steve, a good cup of hot chocolate, and a mid-day pause for prayer and worship.
Steve and Kristen have recently celebrated their move to Columbus, GA from Portland, Oregon with their 3 children. Steve is the Director of our Reach-Atlanta-Metro campaign to launch 18 community outreaches in the Atlanta Metro during the next 3 years. Kristen is a full time homemaker and is homeschooling their children. The family is beginning to acclimate to southern living with the milder winters and thankful for air conditioning to make the sweltering summer days more bearable.
Is your church family looking for an opportunity to become involved in reaching Columbus communities with the love, joy, and peace of the gospel of Jesus Christ? Take the City is looking for a couple of new LifeHouse ministry partners to join with us in supporting and encouraging urban missionary families like the Bedsoles with community ministry and monthly outreaches in both the Young Ave community off of Veterans Parkway and Garden Dr off Cusseta Rd.
Call me to schedule a time we can sit down and discuss how your church family would like to partner in reaching Columbus communities with the light and love of Jesus. I’d be pleased to buy you a cup of coffee at our new Harvest Coffee Co located in our offices at 2910 2nd Ave.
