What is “The Door”?
TheDoor is a community of passionate Jesus followers from various churches, denominations and backgrounds that come together weekly to encounter Gods presence, study Gods word and grow Gods Kingdom community.
We exist to see Gods children come together in perfect love in harmony in our city in such a dramatic way that people know who Jesus is by our love for one another.
We exist to cultivate a place of revival and awakening for the local churches and body of Christ in our city and region.
We exist to raise up leaders who bring revival and transformation to our neighborhoods, cities and the nations of the earth.
The Door is a strategic gathering to help further the Kingdom of God in our area. When people come to The Door as a result of our outreaches we help them get plugged into local churches and missional communities to help them grow deeper as a follower of Jesus Christ.
We meet on Sundays at 6pm for passionate worship, Christ-centered teaching, and a chance to connect over coffee.
What is the history of “The Door”?
The Door was originally started by Grant Collins as a young adult ministry a part of the church Evangel Temple. The ministry was not just focused on those going to that one church but was also focused at ministering to young people from the whole community. The first meeting place of The Door was where the business “Iron Bank” is now today. Over the years it has met in various locations predominantly in the downtown Columbus area.
In 2015 The Door shifted when it was transitioned from being a ministry of the church Evangel Temple to Take the City. The transition was a consideration that required much prayer between the Board of Directors of both Evangel Temple and Take the City. Since October 2015 the Door has been a ministry arm of the Take the City organization.
What is the vision of “The Door”?
The Door is a vital part of the over-arching vision of Take the City. The vision of Take the City is to see entire cities transformed. The Door acts as a gathering place for people from all over our community to come worship, pray and encounter God together as the Body of Christ. Our vision is to be a hub of revival not only in our community but also a place that helps to inspire people to go to the cities of the earth to bring revival and transformation.
We aim to partner with the local Church in our area to continue to strengthen and encourage the local Church. The Door is not a church but is a weekly gathering place for people from many churches. The mission of Take the City is to unify and mobilize the local church to see our cities revitalized. The Door acts as a place that brings people together and helps to equip and train people for mission in the city. That is why at The Door we place a strong emphasis on having speakers and training that helps propel people into local and global missions.
We dream of sparking a missions movement that will transform our community and thrust people into the nations with the gospel of Jesus Christ. Our vision is to be a catalyst for revival and awakening in our region.
