We are Thankful for our Volunteer Teams!

We were blessed last month with 3 volunteer groups coming to help with maintenance, repairs, and outreach at Take the City LifeHouses and SafeHouse.

An Evangel Temple Local MAPs team spent a Saturday morning repairing the fascia and soffits at our North Highlands 26th St LifeHouse.  They are coming back on future Saturdays to complete these repairs and paint the fascia and soffits which will complete the exterior renovations at this LifeHouse.

We were also blessed with a Serve team from North Highlands Opelika Church to begin repairs and renovations at our Redeem SafeHouse. They cleared limbs away from the roof of the house to prepare for repairs of soffits and fascia. In addition they began installing new shelves in closets and storage rooms. They plan to come back in future months to repair and paint the soffits/fascia, complete interior shelving , and planting shrubbery around the house.

Catch the Fire Ministry School from Toronto, Canada sent a ministry team to Columbus during their month long ministry tour of the States prior to graduation.  This team led praise and worship at PMT Church in Phenix City on Sunday, went whitewater rafting on the Chattahoochee river on Monday, and performed ministry projects and outreach at our Lifehouses.

We’re thankful for all of our volunteer ministry teams and the investment they make in our LifeHouse communities. Contact Louis Chalmers (Ph. 404.861.3959) to discuss how your ministry team can help with LifeHouse maintenance, repairs, and outreach.

We would also like to discuss how your church family can become one of our monthly LifeHouse Ministry Partners like Pastor Chuck Hasty and Grace Presbyterian Church are in our Bradley Circle LifeHouse community.

  1. Sometimes when we are home-bound due to an illness or prolonged issue that GOD ALONE can address, WE FORGET THAT WE STILL HAVE AN ARSENAL OF WEAPONRY AT OUR DISPOSAL FOR THE BUILDING UP OF THE KINGDOM!!! WE NEED TO STAY GROUNDED IN GOD’S WORD AND USE THAT AS A LAUNCHPAD FOR WORSHIP AND PRAYER FOR THOSE OUT WORKING IN GOD’S HARVEST FIELDS! Also—HIS FIELD IS OFTEN EXACTLY WHERE YOU ARE!!! Since we forget this and need to be reminded, we thought others may need it too. His love and ours, Carla & Gary Dean

  2. The Safe house was actually a team from Church of the Highlands, Opelika.

I have been serving in some way with Take the city since October 2013. I spent a lot of time on the prayer team in the beginning and encountered God’s heart for the city in a life changing way. When the teams came back and shared testimonies, it was always fun to see that our prayers coincided with some of their testimonies in special ways. More recently I have had the privilege of leading a team to a nursing home where I used to be an employee. I used to pray over the facility every day, and it was such a miracle to see an old friend who lives there give his life to Jesus on one of our outreaches a year later. God sure has a way of answering prayers. And Take the City is an answer to so many prayers that have gone up here.
